Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has projected that Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030,

In an Aug. 20 post on X, Armstrong explained that the improved regulatory environment and increasing government adoption are major drivers that would push the top crypto to the historic milestone.

According to him:

“Regulatory clarity is finally emerging, the US government is keeping a BTC reserve, there’s a growing interest for crypto ETFs, among many other factors.

Why Bitcoin is going to $1 million

According to Armstrong, the most significant catalyst for Bitcoin’s next phase of growth is the ongoing effort to clarify crypto regulations.

He pointed out that these defined rules will encourage an influx of institutional capital that has largely remained on the sidelines. Once regulations are finalized, he expects funds and asset managers to raise their Bitcoin allocations far beyond the average 1% share in their portfolios.

He also pointed to the US government’s recent establishment of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve as a turning point for the industry. The measure, paired with the passage of the GENIUS Stablecoin Act and the upcoming Market Structure Bill, signals a more coordinated federal approach to digital assets.

Armstrong argued that these moves would reduce uncertainty for investors and push other G20 countries to adopt similar strategies.

The Coinbase CEO also emphasized that governments are beginning to engage more directly with the crypto sector, though regulatory risks remain.

He believes that national reserves, institutional exposure, and stablecoin legislation will collectively drive greater confidence in Bitcoin as a global financial asset.

Industry experts agree

Armstrong’s forecast aligns with several market experts’ broader bullish narrative around Bitcoin.

Earlier this year, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes forecasted a similar target, citing the systemic shifts in the global financial system as a catalyst that would “bazooka” Bitcoin price.

Meanwhile, DeFi strategist Carmelo Ippolitto explained that these long-term price projections reflect structural developments rather than mere speculation.

According to him, the maturing regulatory frameworks, alongside the formation of sovereign reserve strategies and the expansion of institutional access via ETFs, are factors that reinforce Bitcoin’s potential.

He added:

“BTC at scale is less a speculative bet and more the monetization of digital scarcity as a global reserve asset.”

Consensys CEO Joe Lubin envisions Ethereum anchoring global finance, surpassing Bitcoin https://earlybirdsinvest.com/consensys-ceo-joe-lubin-envisions-ethereum-anchoring-global-finance-surpassing-bitcoin/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/consensys-ceo-joe-lubin-envisions-ethereum-anchoring-global-finance-surpassing-bitcoin/#respond Wed, 04 Jun 2025 06:40:43 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/consensys-ceo-joe-lubin-envisions-ethereum-anchoring-global-finance-surpassing-bitcoin/

Ethereum co-founder and Consensys CEO Joe Lubin believes ETH could ultimately become more valuable than Bitcoin (BTC), citing its utility and role in building a trust-based financial infrastructure.

Lubin made the comments during an appearance on Rug Radio’s FOMO Hour podcast, where he also revealed that Consensys is in talks with sovereign wealth funds and major banks in a “very big” country to build infrastructure across the Ethereum ecosystem.

These talks reportedly center on building institutional infrastructure within the Ethereum ecosystem, including both layer-1 and customized layer-2 solutions.

Lubin framed Ethereum as uniquely positioned to anchor the next phase of the global financial system. He added that Ether’s utility, ranging from staking and restaking to smart contract execution, could give it an edge as institutions shift toward blockchain-based infrastructure.

Institutional Ethereum adoption

The remarks follow Consensys’ lead role in a $425 million private investment into publicly listed SharpLink Gaming last week.

The company, which markets online gaming products, will use the capital to establish an Ethereum-denominated treasury. Lubin now chairs the SharpLink board.

Unlike strategies centered on long-term Bitcoin accumulation, SharpLink’s treasury will actively deploy ETH through “staking, restaking, and DeFi at prudent risk levels,” according to Lubin.

The move is among the first of its kind and could signal a broader shift in how public companies and institutions approach Ethereum.

SharpLink’s stock jumped over 400% following the announcement and has risen more than 900% in the past month, despite recent volatility.

Most trusted, programmable asset

Despite recent underperformance compared to Bitcoin and newer challengers like Solana (SOL), Lubin portrayed Ethereum as the network focused on long-term infrastructure. The comments come amid a resurgence in ETH, which has begun to outperform the flagship crypto in recent weeks.

He characterized the protocol as methodically building the foundation for scalable, DeFi, even if it has lacked the loud narratives that drive short-term attention in crypto markets. With sovereign funds expressing interest in constructing financial infrastructure on Ethereum, the conversation is shifting.

If governments begin to integrate Ethereum into their technology stacks, or even hold ETH as a strategic asset, it could redefine the competitive landscape among digital currencies.

Lubin concluded with the view that Ethereum’s value lies not just in its price, but in its position as the world’s most trusted programmable asset. As trust, utility, and capital converge, the possibility of Ether surpassing Bitcoin in value no longer seems far-fetched.

Anduril takes over military headset project from Microsoft, Palmer Luckey envisions “technomancer” soldiers https://earlybirdsinvest.com/anduril-takes-over-military-headset-project-from-microsoft-palmer-luckey-envisions-technomancer-soldiers/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/anduril-takes-over-military-headset-project-from-microsoft-palmer-luckey-envisions-technomancer-soldiers/#respond Wed, 12 Feb 2025 13:22:06 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/anduril-takes-over-military-headset-project-from-microsoft-palmer-luckey-envisions-technomancer-soldiers/

What just happened? Microsoft’s troubled mixed-reality headset project for the US Army has come to an end. The Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS) program is being taken over by Anduril, founded by the same man who founded Oculus VR and designed the Oculus Rift, Palmer Luckey, who has ambitious plans for the initiative: he wants to “turn warfighters into technomancers.”

The defense-tech startup still needs approval from the Department of Defense before the agreement is confirmed. Based on a post on his personal blog, Luckey appears confident that the deal will be approved.

“For me, this announcement is deeply personal,” Luckey wrote. “Since my pre-Oculus days as a teenager who had the opportunity to do a tiny bit of work on the Army’s BRAVEMIND project, I’ve believed there would be a headset on every soldier long before there is a headset on every civilian.”

The IVAS units combine high-resolution night, thermal, and soldier-borne sensors into a heads-up display. They use augmented reality to provide wearers with real-time battlefield information, including being able to identify drones.

“Tactical heads-up-displays that turn warfighters into technomancers and pair us with weaponized robotics were one of the products in the original Anduril pitch deck for a reason,” Luckey wrote. “The past eight years we have spent building Lattice have put Anduril in a position to make this type of thing actually useful in the way military strategists and technologists have long dreamed of, ever since Robert Heinlein’s 1959 novel Starship Troopers.”

The current IVAS is based on the Microsoft HoloLens headset. The company discontinued Hololens 2 production late last year. With it handing over the Army version to Anduril, Microsoft has confirmed to The Verge that it is leaving the hardware development side and shifting its focus to cloud and AI tech, “which will serve as the foundation for IVAS as a situational awareness platform.”

Back in 2018, Microsoft began prototyping the IVAS augmented reality glasses and was awarded a $480 million contract by the Army for 100,000 units. The initial agreement was expanded in March 2021 when Microsoft secured a 10-year contract worth nearly $22 billion to build more than 120,000 headsets.

The project has faced significant challenges from the outset. Initially set for a fiscal year 2021 rollout, the Army’s IVAS goggles were delayed until 2022, though military officials insisted they remained committed to the deal. However, concerns soon mounted.

In April 2022, the Department of Defense warned that the large-scale purchase could be a waste of taxpayer money. Later that year, an Army tester raised alarms about the headsets’ light emission, which could expose soldiers’ positions to enemy forces.

Other issues emerged, including restricted peripheral vision, headaches, eye strain, and nausea – symptoms reported by 80% of testers within three hours of use. The headsets also failed to perform essential functions, further diminishing confidence in the project. In response, Congress rejected the Army’s $400 million request to purchase 6,900 units in 2023, instead allocating just $40 million for Microsoft to develop an improved version.
