The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, has notably been on a Bitcoin selling spree throughout this week, triggering a wave of sell-offs in the process. These sales have occurred due to the outflows that the asset manager has witnessed from its BTC ETF.

BlackRock Dumps Around $500 Million In Bitcoin

Arkham data shows that BlackRock has offloaded around $500 million in Bitcoin this week, with transfers to Coinbase, a move that indicates a move to sell these coins. The asset manager has sold these coins following outflows from its iShares Bitcoin ETF, which was the norm throughout this week.

SoSo Value data shows that BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF first recorded a daily net outflow of $68.72 million on August 18. The fund then further saw net outflows of $220 million, $127.49 million, and $198.81 million on August 20, 21, and 22, respectively. Notably, the iShares Bitcoin ETF has accounted for most of the outflows, with the BTC ETFs as a group currently on a six-day streak of consecutive net outflows.

These Bitcoin ETFs have seen total net outflows of almost $1.2 billion since August 15. Meanwhile, in just this week alone, over $1.1 billion has left these funds, sparking a bearish sentiment for the BTC price. Given BlackRock’s position as a major player in the Bitcoin ecosystem, outflows from its fund had sparked a wave of sell-offs. This led to a massive decline for the flagship crypto earlier in the week.

The Bitcoin price had dropped to as low as $112,000 this week as BlackRock and other BTC investors took profit on their investments. This followed the flagship crypto’s rally to a new all-time high (ATH) of $124,000 last week. However, BTC has now sharply rebounded on the back of Jerome Powell’s Jackson Hole speech, in which he indicated that a rate cut might happen in September.

An End To The BTC ETF Outflow Streak

Notably, Powell’s speech was enough to spark fresh inflows into the Bitcoin ETFs on August 22, with BlackRock the only fund manager that recorded a net outflow on the day. Further data from SoSo Value shows that Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest recorded a daily inflow of $65.47 million, the most among the issuers on the day.

Meanwhile, Fidelity, Van Eck, Franklin Templeton, Bitwise, and Grayscale recorded inflows of $50.88 million, $26.41 million, $13.51 million, $12.70 million, and $6.42 million, respectively. However, BlackRock recorded an outflow of $198.81 million, which led to a daily net outflow of $23.15 million for the funds as a group. With the Bitcoin price rebounding, these funds, including BlackRock’s IBIT, could return to witnessing significant daily inflows from next week.

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is trading at around $115,900, up over 2% in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Two stocks purchased by investment legend Warren Buffett’s firm in the first quarter of the year have witnessed significant gains in 2025.

Filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) earlier this year indicate Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway bought 238,613 new shares of Domino’s Pizza (DPZ) in Q1, worth approximately $204 million.

The Omaha-based holding company also bought 112,401 new shares of Heico Corporation (HEI), an aerospace and electronics firm. Those new shares were worth nearly $50 million in Q1.

Domino’s stock is up more than 2.5% in the past five days, more than 4% in the past month and more than 13.5% year-to-date. Heico’s stock is up more than 35% in 2025.

Berkshire Hathaway added shares in both firms while hawking $3.23 billion worth of stock in the financial giants Citigroup, Bank of America and Capital One in Q1.

Buffett’s firm completely exited Citigroup in the first quarter, unloading its remaining 14,639,502 shares worth about $1 billion.

Berkshire sold an additional 48.7 million Bank of America shares in Q1, worth about $2.19 billion, and 300,000 shares in Capital One exposure, worth more than $46 million.

Buffett’s firm also sold all of its remaining 40,180,168 shares of the Brazilian fintech Nu Holdings, which were worth more than $416 million.

Beyond banking, Berkshire also reduced positions in Charter Communications, DaVita, T-Mobile and Liberty Media’s Formula One stock.

Cathie Wood dumped $100M in Circle – should you care? https://earlybirdsinvest.com/cathie-wood-dumped-100m-in-circle-should-you-care/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/cathie-wood-dumped-100m-in-circle-should-you-care/#respond Thu, 19 Jun 2025 17:19:24 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/cathie-wood-dumped-100m-in-circle-should-you-care/

Everyone (including us) keeps screaming and shouting about how successful Circle’s IPO was.

Well, it’s hard not to talk about it – CRCL jumped about 170% on Day 1, and people took it as a sign that Wall Street’s getting more open to crypto-related companies.

Then, kachow – this headline drops:

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest sold nearly $100M worth of Circle shares.

Robert Pattinson shocked

Wait… is this the end? Is Circle cooked? Did ARK just call the top??

*Starts running around in panic*

Hold up. Take a breath. This looks scary, but it’s not necessarily a red flag.

Here’s what’s actually happening:

Circle’s stock absolutely ripped after going public – again, +170% on the first day, and +543% as of now.

ARK probably just wanted to lock in some short-term gains while it’s still hot. Completely normal.

Also, context: they bought over 4M CRCL shares. What they sold is just 14% of that. So, they aren’t bailing – it’s a trim.

ARK does this kind of thing all the time. Get in early, take partial profits, stay flexible.

Now, if more big investors started selling – or if retail investors got scared – then, yes, we would have a problem. But so far, no other major Circle backers have reported selling.

Plus, Circle’s business fundamentals haven’t changed, so the company is definitely not falling apart:

  • USDC is still on top with $61B in circulation, and Circle earns interest on those reserves;

  • The GENIUS Act is moving forward, and if it passes, it would legitimize US-issued stablecoins.

If you’re looking for real red flags, keep an eye on these:

👉 Big volume + multiple institutions selling. One big seller could be noise. A crowd rushing for the exit? That’s a sign.

👉 How CRCL behaves as we get closer to July 19, aka options expiration day, when investor contracts on the stock will expire. That can cause extra price swings, so if CRCL holds around $150 – $160, we’re good.

👉 Insider sales after December. That’s when the post-IPO lock-up period ends, and company execs are finally allowed to sell their shares. If a lot of them start selling – you’ll see that in SEC Form 4 filings – they’re probably not confident in the company’s future, and you should start paying attention.

Until then, let’s not lose our minds.
