What you need to know

  • Samsung was spotted rolling out an update for its Camera Assistant app on Galaxy that surprisingly mentions “3D capture” and its “Galaxy XR headset.”
  • The feature says users can “create spatial photos and videos for Galaxy XR headsets,” though it’s not working properly just yet.
  • A report from August claimed Samsung is preparing to debut its Project Moohan headset on September 29.

Samsung’s premium XR headset looks a little more real after a recent update to a Galaxy app adds surprising support.

A post by SamMobile highlights an update for Samsung’s Camera Assistant app on its Galaxy phones, which directly mentions “Galaxy XR headsets.” When activated, the publication discovered a floating banner on the phone’s viewfinder that says “3D capture.” Additionally, at the top, the app informs the user that there needs to be more light before it can take a “3D photo.”

In Camera Assistant’s settings, the 3D capture feature’s description reads, “Add a 3D capture option to the top of the preview so you can create spatial photos and videos for Galaxy XR headsets.”

While this seems exciting, the publication had to go through some hoops before it could even see the feature in this capacity. Reportedly, the update for Camera Assistant, v4.0.0.3, has only rolled out for the recent Galaxy S25 FE; however, it could only be activated after transferring the updated app to a Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The safest (and current) speculation is that Samsung is still finalizing this software in preparation for its XR headset.

Getting ready for Galaxy XR?

The hype has been building for Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, which we’ve known as Project Moohan for a while now. A report from the end of August out of South Korea claimed Samsung could announce Project Moohan on September 29. Speculation says the company could follow this up with a market launch in mid-October in South Korea before other markets.

Those same rumors add that Project Moohan could cost somewhere between “2.5 and 4 million won,” which roughly equates to $1,800–$2,800. Comparisons to Apple’s Vision Pro continue to be made, and it seems Samsung’s headset could see under the competition’s $3,500 price tag.

Google had Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset at its I/O event earlier this year, where Android Central had a chance to demo the product. The headset earned top marks for visuals and “natural” navigation across its apps. If Samsung is preparing to launch, we’re only a few weeks away from seeing it.

So we began withdrawing from Beton Line (casino/poker platform) and retracted it to the wallet of the cash app. I’ve done this hundreds of times between the two and have never had any problems before. I know that the Cash app has received a transaction, but it is pending and has not been confirmed. Time passed and when I checked the blockchain it says that the original TXID has been replaced by RBF. In the first TXID I showed the transaction amount and the correct cash app wallet address as output, but in the new “exchange” TXID my wallet is not listed as output, nor is it listed the transaction amount. New amount, new address. From what I found online, isn’t this impossible only by hackers who have seed phrases for the sender platform or the sender’s wallet? Or is this likely a problem with the cache app? Thank you for not really understanding any help. Edit: Also, it has been confirmed more than 25 times on the blockchain and is not pending.

10 Benefits of Forex Hedging Most Traders Don’t Know About https://earlybirdsinvest.com/10-benefits-of-forex-hedging-most-traders-dont-know-about/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/10-benefits-of-forex-hedging-most-traders-dont-know-about/#respond Tue, 19 Aug 2025 18:54:21 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/10-benefits-of-forex-hedging-most-traders-dont-know-about/

10 Hedging Benefits

Hedging is possibly the most misunderstood trading method in the world.

It’s also technically not allowed in U.S.-based accounts, so many traders think that there’s something wrong with this trading method.

But if you take a closer look, there are many benefits to Forex hedging that I’ll go over in this article.

You might just change your mind.

Even though there are a lot of benefits to hedging, remember that there are no magic trading strategies that are guaranteed to make money.

The trading strategy you use must match your trading personality and be practiced extensively to achieve mastery.

With that said, let’s get into it.

1. Less or No Margin Required

Depending on the broker you use, a fully hedged position can require half the amount of margin, or even no margin at all.

For example, let’s say that you’re long 1 standard lot of EURUSD, and short 1 standard lot, at the same time.

If the margin for 1 standard lot is $250, you might only have to put up $250 for BOTH positions, which would ordinarily cost you $500.

At some brokers, you don’t need any margin at all if you have a fully hedged (1:1) position.

This is a big advantage because you can basically have double the opportunities to profit, at half the cost.

Of course, there is also twice the opportunity to have a loss.

But if you know what you’re doing and have practiced your hedging strategy, using less margin is generally a very good thing.

It gives you more opportunity to get out of losing trades.

Unfortunately, this does not apply if you hedge in a U.S.-based account. But it’s still possible to hedge in an account based in the U.S.

More on that in a bit.

2. Potential to Make Money in Both Directions

Almost all trading strategies require that you to pick the direction that you think the market will go.

It’s either up or down.

But with hedging, I can potentially make money in both directions.

I’ve even done demonstrations where I have opened a long and a short trade at the same time and made a net profit on both trades.

In this way, it’s unlike any other trading method out there.

Now in all fairness, this can lead to overtrading, so it’s important to learn hedging in a demo or simulation account before ever risking real money.

However, hedging gives me more opportunities, and that makes my job easier.

If you want to learn more about hedging, be sure to read my Hedging Guide for Beginners.

3. The Ability to Wait for More Information

This is a big one.

Have you ever thought that price would move in one direction, but as you saw more candles, it was pretty obvious that you were wrong about your initial prediction?

Of course, that happens all the time in trading.

The beauty of hedging is that I can take positions in both directions and wait until the market gives me solid clues that it will go in one direction or the other.

This can be a huge advantage because many times the markets will throw a “fake out” before making a big move in the opposite direction.

Even though I might be very sure about the initial position, that picture can change quickly and hedging gives me the ability to adjust.

4. Lower Stress

Trader at beach

Sometimes I don’t feel like trading.

When that happens, I can simply hedge my positions and get back to them when I feel like it.

Sure, I’ll lose a bit of money on the swap.

But the ability to take a break is priceless.

Try doing that with any other trading method out there.

On top of that, I never have the stress of worrying if I’ll get stopped out of a trade…even during rollover.

If you’ve been trading for any length of time, you know that sinking feeling when you go to check your charts and you’ve just been stopped out…again.

Not the best way to start the day.

Get stopped out multiple times in a row and that can start to mess with your confidence.

With hedging, there are no stop losses, so I never have to worry about getting stopped out.

I simply hedge the losing position and move on.

A hedge still limits my risk, while giving me the opportunity to profit in either direction.

5. Potential to Make Passive Income

There was a period of time when the Japanese Yen was a popular currency to trade because the interest rate differential between the Yen and the US dollar was so high that traders could simply profit from the interest.

Traders were making big money by just holding their positions.

It was rumored that even Japanese housewives were trading this method because it was so easy and reliable.

I know a trader who did this full time as her only strategy.

But all good things come to an end and the trade eventually stopped working.

Some traders lost their entire accounts.

However, if you use hedging to target high interest rate differential trades, it’s possible to still take advantage of this method on a shorter term basis, while limiting your risk.

6. Massive Liquidity and Lower Fees

One of the reasons why I prefer Forex hedging is because the market is massive.

Forex is the largest trading market in the world.

Since there are more traders to take the other side of your trade, you are more likely to get the price on your screen and suffer less slippage.

Other markets like futures, options and crypto have much less liquidity, which means that you might not get the price you want or you may not even be able to enter a trade at all.

On top of that, Forex generally has lower transaction costs than other markets, especially at smaller trade sizes.

So it’s perfect for a wide range of traders, from beginner to professional.

7. Maximum Flexibility

Hedging chart

Pairing hedging with scaling is powerful.

Scaling is opening and closing trades in parts instead of taking the whole trade in one big chunk.

For example let’s say that I want to take a full-sized trade of 3 standard lots.

Instead of opening the trade with all 3 lots at once, I might take 1 lot to start, then see what the market does.

If price doesn’t do what I expected, I can just hedge the 1 lot, instead of having to hedge 3 lots.

Scaling into a trade can also help me get a better average price than entering all at once.

I can enter 1 lot to start, then see what price does. If price action is still favorable, but moves slightly against me, I can enter trades 2 and 3, but at a lower cost than the first trade.

The same thing goes for my exits.

I can set 3 profit targets to capture a small, medium and large profit.

If my last profit target doesn’t get hit and it looks like price will return to my entry, I can simply close out the trade at a smaller than expected profit.

Now double this potential on both the long and short sides.

As you can see, when I use hedging and scaling together, it gives me maximum flexibility to go with the flow of the markets.

8. Can be Added to Other Trading Strategies

Hedging can be a trading strategy in itself.

However, if you couple it with other trading strategies, it can be a powerful way to get out of trades that don’t work out.

This is especially useful if you have a trading strategy that has a high win rate, but you want to boost the overall return of the method.

If a trade doesn’t work out according to the rules of your strategy, you can work your way out of it with a hedge.

Again, you have to master your hedging “escape” method before you ever take a trade.

But it can be a nice addition to an already profitable strategy.

9. More Consistent Returns

I have personally found that hedging creates more consistent returns than most other trading strategies.

Individual results will obviously vary, depending on skill level.

I’m not saying that you are guaranteed have more consistent returns, but in my experience, it’s certainly possible.

Couple this with lower stress and more flexibility, and that’s why I enjoy hedging.

10. Can be Done in a U.S.-Based Forex Account

?

Contrary to popular belief, you CAN legally hedge in a U.S. Forex account.

It’s not hedging in a traditional sense, but it’s effectively the same thing.

Hedging in the U.S. is not as easy and it does take more patience, but it can be done.

I DO NOT recommended it, but if you insist on using a broker in the United States, then just know that it is possible.

Final Thoughts

Just like with any other trading method, there are benefits and downsides to Forex Hedging.

It’s not for everyone.

But if this list of benefits appeals to you, then read my free Forex Hedging Guide to get started with this underrated trading method further.

As always, remember to start in a demo account and use play money to perfect your skills before ever risking real money.

Ripple’s $606M XRP transfer raises eyebrows

XRP shows signs of recovery as Ripple makes the big move.

  • The big move. Ripple shifted 200M XRP on Aug. 18 to an unknown wallet.

San Francisco-based blockchain company Ripple has stirred speculations with a mysterious transfer involving millions of XRP. On August 18, on-chain tracking platform Whale Alert spotted a major transfer from Ripple involving 200,000,000 XRP. According to the data provider, Ripple had moved a mega amount of XRP to an unknown address. The transfer was worth over $606 million per XRP’s price at the time the transfer was executed.

  • Market context. Transfer happened during a market-wide downturn.

The massive XRP transfer from Ripple has sparked reactions across the community as the destination of the transferred assets remained anonymous. While market watchers have been closely monitoring on-chain moves like this, they have expressed curiosity as to whether the move could be the firm preparing for institutional deals or probably redistributing its reserves.

  • Bullish view. Could signal private accumulation or strategic positioning for XRP adoption.

With the move coming amid a broad crypto market bloodbath, investors fear that the move might be Ripple preparing to dump its holdings ahead of deeper price declines. Following the anonymous nature of Ripple’s giant move on XRP today, the lack of clarity on the destination of the transfer has fueled discussions about whether it could be tied to upcoming private accumulation which may be bullish for XRP’s potential price.

Shiba Inu price struggles at thin support

Shiba Inu coin holders better buckle up as SHIB price is on verge of adding zero.

  • Key support level. $0.0000120 — repeatedly tested, now at risk of breaking.

SHIB is trading at $0.0000126 right now. The only thing holding it back from dropping into new territory is thin support at $0.0000120. SHIB price has been moving in tight waves this summer: a brief 8.9% gain in July, followed by a drop in August.

Its support line has been tested several times on the daily chart, with each rebound losing strength. If it breaks, the token will reach areas last visited in Q1, when sentiment was far weaker.

  • Bigger picture. 2025 marked by persistent monthly losses.

The weekly candles show the difficulty of this year. After the surge in 2024, SHIB failed to keep up. The year started with losses of 10.9% in January, followed by 26.1% in February, and red in March and June. Despite sporadic recoveries, the coin has been dropping for months.

For SHIB, the next few weeks are going to be important. The community needs to find enough buying power to hold steady above support and set up for a late-year push. They did it last November with a 49% rally, after all. If not, the charts are set to lock in the new reality of another zero.

Ethereum (ETH) price dip warning

Chris Weston, head of research at Australian trading firm Pepperstone, believes that traders should wait for ETH to regain its momentum.

  • Key view. Traders should avoid rushing into dip-buying ETH.

Chris Weston, head of research at Australian trading firm Pepperstone, argues that traders should not rush to buy the Ethereum (ETH) dip. “As we see on the daily [chart], the time for patience on new longs is needed…” Weston said. Momentum buying instead of dip buying The trader has predicted that the price of the flagship altcoin could potentially drop back to the $4,100 level, which is the previous “breakout level.”

  • Market context. ETH fell to $4,233 intraday low.

Weston has opined that it would be more prudent to wait until the dip is bought by others and ETH regains its momentum. Earlier, the price of the leading alternative cryptocurrency plunged to an intraday low of $4,233, which is the lowest level since Aug. 12. That said, the cryptocurrency is still up by nearly 15% this August after surging by as much as 49% in July.

TL;DR

  • Google Messages will now automatically blur NSFW photos that you receive or send.
  • It will show warnings before opening any explicit media shared with you to ensure you approve of it.
  • It will also warn you of the risks of sending such photos before you do.
  • All processing takes place locally on your device, so none of the private media is sent to Google.

The outpouring of multimedia junk, thanks to RCS, in Android’s default Messages app has inspired Google to bolster it with extensive spam protection. Now, it is expanding its protection features to any NSFW (Not Safe For Work) media you might receive in your inbox, with or without soliciting.

Google Messages is gaining “Sensitive content warnings” that will notify you when you receive a picture of someone naked. The feature, first announced in late 2024 and then rolled out in beta earlier this year, is now available to all users, as noted by 9to5Google.

When the feature is enabled, the images will be automatically blurred to save you from any public embarrassment, even if they were meant for you. It will give you another set of “Yes” and “No” options when you first tap the image to ensure you open it mindfully. If you are uncomfortable viewing the picture, you can also delete it without revealing its contents, or block and report the sender.

Google says nudity in pictures will be identified with an Android system feature called SafetyCore. The analysis and processing happen locally, so you wouldn’t have to worry about any private media being sent to Google. There is currently no protection for other media, such as GIFs or videos, possibly because of their larger sizes, although Google is already testing support for them.

Don’t want to miss the best from Android Authority?

In addition to protecting you against any unwanted explicit images, Google will also warn you of the implications when you send a picture with nudity to another person. Google is adding a link to a resource that apprise you of the risks of voluntarily sharing nude images, which can later be used to harass you or cause anguish. Meanwhile, the resource also notes the repercussions of sharing anyone else’s images without their consent.

While the feature is going live for a broad set of users, you might have to ensure that it is turned on and that Android System SafetyCore is installed. To do that, head over to the Google Messages app and tap on your profile picture on the top right. Next, go to Message Settings > Protection & Safety and tap the area that says “Manage sensitive content warnings.”

On the page that opens, you might be asked to download SafetyCore before enabling the feature. Once installed, you can toggle these warnings on or tap the “Visit resources” link at the bottom to view risks associated with sharing nude images through messages.

In a dedicated support page, Google notes that the sensitive content warnings are turned on by default (once you set up SafetyCore). While adults (18+ in age) can turn it off, it can only be managed by parents for “Supervised” teens who have their accounts managed by the Family Link app. Meanwhile, unsupervised teens (aged 13–17) will also have the option to turn it off themselves.

While it’s good to see Google Messages bring a crucial feature, it doesn’t quite extend as far as the Sensitive Content Warnings on iOS, a feature that blocks every NSFW media (including videos) shared across multiple apps, such as Messages, Contact Cards, FaceTime, and even AirDrop.

Prove, don’t show: Why Zero-Knowledge proofs are TradFi’s next security layer https://earlybirdsinvest.com/prove-dont-show-why-zero-knowledge-proofs-are-tradfis-next-security-layer/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/prove-dont-show-why-zero-knowledge-proofs-are-tradfis-next-security-layer/#respond Mon, 11 Aug 2025 04:51:02 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/prove-dont-show-why-zero-knowledge-proofs-are-tradfis-next-security-layer/

The following article is a guest post and opinion of Prabal Banerjee (Co-founder of Avail) and Shailey Singh (Marketing Manager and Researcher at Avail)

Imagine a world where you walk into a bank and apply for a $1 million loan. Instead of handing over your full income history and credit report, you generate a cryptographic proof confirming you meet every loan criterion without exposing actual numbers or documents. The bank verifies the proof instantly. No raw data changes hands. No paper trail for hackers to follow.

Today, for a financial institution to verify a fact—whether it’s a customer’s loan eligibility or proof of compliance—it must reveal every underlying piece of data, including sensitive personal information. That data lives in centralized systems, secured by or shared with third parties, creating an ever-expanding attack surface.

This is the paradox at the heart of modern finance: compliance demands disclosure, but disclosure erodes privacy and security. Zero-knowledge technology flips that script.

In a world of mounting cyber threats, regulatory scrutiny, and customer fatigue, zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs) offer a better model for trust: verifiable, privacy-preserving, and future-ready. ZKPs let one party (the prover) convince another (the verifier) that a statement is true, without revealing why or exposing the underlying data.

Integrating ZK technology into traditional finance may seem futuristic, but the truth is, we need it now.

A Surge in Cyber Risk

Data privacy and security go hand in hand. The financial sector is under siege. In 2024, the average cost of a data breach for banks and insurers skyrocketed to $6.08 million—about 22% higher than the $4.88 million cross-industry average. Companies take an average of 168 days to detect and 51 more to contain these breaches, prolonging operational chaos and reputational damage.

In 2023, the financial industry accounted for 27% of all data breaches handled by Kroll—more than any other sector. These aren’t outliers; they’re bleeding-edge trends that cut into profits and erode public trust. Consider Equifax, which lost over $5 billion in market cap and 13% stock value after its 2017 breach; or Bank of America’s vendor-related breach that exposed the records of 7.6 million customers, prompting forensic investigations and intensified regulatory scrutiny.

Compliance Overload

Regulatory demands have outpaced legacy infrastructure. In the United States, Dodd‑Frank and SOX require firms to disclose detailed or near-real-time compliance data.

Europe’s MiCA adds granular reporting for crypto companies. Firms face nonstop exposure, rising complexity, and compliance fatigue. The result: bloated tech stacks, siloed data, and mounting vulnerability under constant internal and external scrutiny.

Banks Demand More Personal Data

Banks and fintechs are asking users to surrender increasing amounts of personal data: documents, income history, even biometric data, just to get started. Customer acquisition has become a leak-prone liability.

A 2023 Fenergo study found 67% of banks have lost potential clients due to clunky KYC and onboarding. Banks contact new customers an average of 10 times during onboarding, requesting countless documents, costing around $128 per customer and seeing an average 18% abandonment rate, per a 2024 report. These data-hungry paths are alienating users while making institutions data-rich and danger-rich.

Zero-Knowledge Tech: Proof Without Exposure

Zero-knowledge proofs change this calculus. ZKPs are built on decades of cryptographic research. Foundational work by researchers like Shafi Goldwasser, Silvio Micali, Oded Goldreich, Amit Sahai, and others laid the groundwork for modern zero-knowledge systems, defining both their theoretical limits and practical designs. Today, ZKPs have moved from mathematical concepts to real-world tools.

Under the hood, zero-knowledge systems rely on advanced cryptography to generate compact, verifiable proofs. No raw data ever needs to be revealed. Rules and inputs are programmatically smart-contract encoded, the proof is generated without exposing the underlying data, and the verifier receives a tamper-proof cryptographic assurance that all conditions were satisfied.

Recent breakthroughs have made these proofs fast enough for real-time use and efficient enough to scale across high-volume financial systems.

After the collapse of crypto giants like FTX, proving reserves became a top priority for crypto firms, especially exchanges. Centralized exchanges like Kraken, Gate.io, and OKX have already proven reserves without exposing sensitive details.

Traditional banks can adopt similar mechanisms to prove Basel III compliance or liquidity thresholds without ever leaking proprietary risk models.

Some already have. In 2023, Société Générale Forge explored zero-knowledge technology to enhance confidentiality in digital bond issuance (fully subscribed by AXA Investments and Generali Investments) on Ethereum L1. In March 2024, the European Banking Authority began exploring ZKPs as part of its digital compliance toolkit. Singapore’s MAS has also funded ZK-based pilots for cross-border data privacy.

The other important aspect is scale. Interbank markets process trillions daily, but most require full disclosure for settlement—from counterparties to trade details. ZK-rollups can batch thousands of trades into a single proof, offering near-instant finality without revealing anything other than what needs to be proved.

Why Now? Tech + Timing

Zero-knowledge proofs aren’t new. But what is new is that they’re finally fast, scalable, and accessible.

Proof generation speed has improved dramatically in the past two years alone. With zk-SNARKs and zk-STARKs, proofs can now be generated in seconds and verified in milliseconds—even for complex financial computations. Developers are advancing ZK tech in the context of rollup architecture acceleration, with Ethereum’s rollup-centric vision.

Tooling has matured as well. Today, developers can plug into open-source libraries like Halo2, PLONK, or zkVMs with real-world use cases. Platforms like Polygon, zkSync, StarkWare, and Scroll are already deploying ZK-powered financial apps.

Legacy institutions may face challenges in upgrading entrenched infrastructure, aligning with regulatory frameworks, building internal cryptography domain expertise, and educating teams. But these limitations are shrinking fast.

Today, the pieces are in place. The time to act is now.

Those who move early will set new standards. The new model of trust is “verify, never reveal.” Early adopters will set the standard and win the clients.

Ryan Haines / Android Authority

Here at Android Authority, we spend a lot of time talking about the best Android phones you can buy at any given time. Want a phone with great cameras? Long battery life? Something at a low price? We know exactly the right phone for you.

But there’s another side to that coin: the Android phones you shouldn’t buy. Which phones are you better off skipping? As someone who’s been reviewing and writing about Android phones for a decade, that’s what I’m here to answer.

While there are endless Android phones from unknown brands on Amazon and other online retailers that you should always avoid, I’m focusing this list on major Android phones that you’re likely already considering. Also, while some of the phones here are ones we’ve previously recommended, they’re not necessarily the best purchase in August 2025.

Got it? Great. Without further ado, here are seven Android phones I don’t recommend buying right now.

What do you think is the worst Android phone to buy in August 2025?

Pixel 9

My first couple of picks may seem contradictory, as they’re some of the highest-rated phones from last year, but there’s a good reason for their inclusion on this list. It starts with the base model Google Pixel 9.

The main reason not to buy the Pixel 9 is that the Pixel 10 is set to be announced on August 20, and it’s shaping up to be a significant upgrade. The Pixel 10 is expected to feature a new 5x telephoto camera (something the Pixel 9 doesn’t have), Qi2 wireless charging with built-in magnets, a larger battery, and slightly faster wired charging.

Perhaps more important is the Tensor G5 chip that’ll be inside the Pixel 10. It’s widely believed that the G5 will not only be Google’s first 3nm chip, but it will also be the first one manufactured by TSMC. Nothing is confirmed until we get our hands on the phone, but this could result in substantial performance and efficiency upgrades even compared to the Pixel 9’s Tensor G4 chipset.

Given how significant an upgrade we expect the Pixel 10 to be, buying a Pixel 9 less than two weeks before the new model gets here isn’t the best idea. I’d recommend waiting to buy the Pixel 10 if it’s as good as we suspect, and if not, you should be able to get the Pixel 9 at a heavily discounted price once its successor arrives.

My next few phones to avoid are grouped together in one section, as my buying advice is the same for all three of them. I’m talking about the Google Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. In addition to the regular Pixel 10, we also expect Google to announce new Pro phones at its August 20 event — including the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Unlike the Pixel 10, none of the Pixel 10 Pro models are reported to get new camera hardware. However, other upgrades — such as Qi2 magnetic charging, larger batteries, faster wired charging, and the Tensor G5 chip — are all on the table.

It’s worth waiting just a little while longer for the Pixel 10 Pro to get here.

While the reasons to wait are slightly different, the same logic applies as it does to the base Pixel 9. If you’re debating buying a Pixel 9 Pro model, it’s worth waiting just a little while longer for the Pixel 10 Pro to get here. At that point, you can decide if the new phones are worth buying, or if you’d rather get last year’s models at a (likely) discounted price.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge

Ryan Haines / Android Authority

Google isn’t the only company with Android phones that you should avoid buying right now. Looking at Samsung, I find it pretty hard to recommend anyone purchase the Galaxy S25 Edge.

My colleague Ryan Haines gave the Galaxy S25 Edge a tepid 3 out of 5 in his review, criticizing the Edge’s poor thermals, lack of a telephoto camera, weak battery life, and slow charging. For a phone that costs $1,100, the Galaxy S25 Edge just isn’t enough.

The Galaxy S25 Edge has been a difficult recommendation since its launch in May, but recent Galaxy S26 Edge rumors have further reinforced that point. One rumor claims that the S26 Edge will be 0.3mm thinner than the S25 Edge while simultaneously packing a larger 4,400mAh battery — potentially fixing one of our biggest issues with the current Edge.

Even more noteworthy is an exclusive report that Android Authority published in July, where we found evidence that Samsung will discontinue the Galaxy S26 Plus next year and replace it with the Galaxy S26 Edge. This means we could see the S26 Edge released much earlier in the year than previously expected. It also means that the Galaxy S25 Edge may be outdated in just a few months, so buying it right now isn’t the best idea.

Samsung Galaxy A36 5G

Sticking with Samsung, the company has another ho-hum phone on its hands with the Galaxy A36 5G. The A36 is a $400 handset that, at least on the surface, doesn’t look too bad. With a big AMOLED panel, solid hardware, and good battery life, what’s not to like?

As it turns out, a fair amount. In our Galaxy A36 5G review, my colleague Rushil found numerous issues with the phone — one of the most damning being poor performance. Not only does the Exynos 1380 chipset not perform well in benchmarks, but it’s also sluggish for tasks as simple as scrolling through apps or opening the camera. Paired with a super slow fingerprint sensor, the A36 is a phone that’ll test your patience, and not in a good way.

The good news is that there are far better smartphones available at a similar price. The Google Pixel 9a is one of the best phones we’ve reviewed this year, touting great cameras, excellent software updates, reliable battery life, and good performance. It also has a much better fingerprint sensor. The Pixel 9a is more expensive at $499, but at the time of publication, it’s on sale for just $399.

The $400 Moto G Stylus (2025) is another good alternative. And if you’re okay with some possible carrier quirks, the Nothing Phone 3a and 3a Pro are better buys, too. There are lots of great Android phones available in the ~$400 range, but the Galaxy A36 5G isn’t one of them.

Motorola Moto G (2025)

Speaking of Moto G phones, there’s another one in Motorola’s current portfolio that’s better left untouched. The Moto G (2025) features a nice design and a decent display, and at just $200, it appears to be an incredible bargain. However, this is one of those cases where appearances can be deceiving.

Ryan didn’t beat around the bush in our Moto G (2025) review, simply saying that he doesn’t think you should buy the phone — and I fully agree with him. The Moto G (2025) is plagued with slow performance, disappointing cameras, weak water resistance, and a terrible software update policy. (Motorola promises just two years of Android OS updates.)

You may be willing to overlook a few compromises with a phone as cheap as the Moto G (2025), but the fact is that you can do a lot better for your money. The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G has the same $200 price tag, but it’s a better phone overall. If you live outside of the US or are okay with some possible carrier issues, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is an unbelievable bargain for just $279.

Jesse Watters and Ben Shapiro don’t know that Superman has been a socialist since 1938. https://earlybirdsinvest.com/jesse-watters-and-ben-shapiro-dont-know-that-superman-has-been-a-socialist-since-1938/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/jesse-watters-and-ben-shapiro-dont-know-that-superman-has-been-a-socialist-since-1938/#respond Mon, 21 Jul 2025 01:18:53 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/jesse-watters-and-ben-shapiro-dont-know-that-superman-has-been-a-socialist-since-1938/

In a recent interview with The Times, Superman director James Gunn said that his new blockbuster tells the story of “an immigrant.” He also explained it was a story about “basic human kindness.” But that first comment — about Superman’s foreign origins — is the one that set off some pundits on the right.

Fox News commentator Jesse Watters joked on air: “You know what it says on his cape? MS-13.” Ben Shapiro blasted Gunn and the Hollywood left for being out of touch with everyday American audiences: “The reality [is] that Hollywood is so far to the left that they cannot take a core piece of Americana and just say it’s about America.”

But, Grant Morrison — author of the seminal comic book series All-Star Superman — said the conservative backlash ignores the leftist origins of the world’s most famous superhero.

Not only was Superman created by the sons of Jewish immigrants, but those very first comics portrayed their character as a “socialist figure.”

In one comic published in 1939, Superman is seen shielding young thieves from police because he figured the kids were victims of poverty, then tearing down slums and forcing authorities to build low-rent housing. Before becoming the “Man of Steel,” Superman was “The Champion of the Oppressed.”

Gunn has said that All-Star Superman was a big influence on his new film. Morrison sat down with Today, Explained host Sean Rameswaram to talk about where Superman came from, how the character has evolved, and why he will endure.

Below is an excerpt of their conversation, edited for length and clarity. There’s much more in the full podcast, so listen to Today, Explained wherever you get podcasts, including Apple Podcasts, Pandora, and Spotify.

How did you get into Superman? What did this character mean to you?

I grew up on the west coast of Scotland next to an American naval and nuclear base. My parents were anti-nuclear activists. My father was a World War II soldier who became a peacenik. So, my big fear in the world was the atom bomb, and I associated it with the Americans, but the Americans also brought the comics.

Then I discovered Superman. And although I knew no real Superman was coming to save me from an actual atom bomb, metaphorically he really solved a lot of problems for my head when I was a little kid.

Those are the primal roots for me, and they’re quite deep. So yeah, getting a chance to do that character, sitting here overlooking that same stretch of water where we did the protests…To write All-Star Superman kind of defies the forces of entropy. If anything survives in my career, it will be that one book.

Who was the Superman that you created in that series?

We went for an older Superman. The basic idea was: What if Superman was dying and he had a year to live? Basically, it’s a part of Lex Luthor’s scheme to send Superman to the sun, and the solar radiation overcharges Superman’s cells, so they begin to decay and die. Basically, Superman’s dying of cancer. What would this man do in the last 12 months of his life to leave the Earth a better place than he found it?

Were you surprised to find out that James Gunn wanted to relaunch this character and relaunch an entire cinematic universe with your story about a dying Superman?

James didn’t necessarily take the dying part. His is a younger Superman. But I think he certainly took the character as we decided to define it, and he saw something that he could work with. Instead of Superman having flaws, let’s present a fictional character who doesn’t have flaws. You know, he has problems of his own. He still can’t get the girl. He still works for a boss in an office, but he’s Superman. He’s a kind of everyman whose life happens at a much higher scale. He’s got an unruly dog, but his unruly dog can laser his own dinner and cook a steak. His unruly dog can fly through buildings, but he’s still dealing with an unruly dog.

In previous attempts people have asked: What would Superman be like if he was in the real world? Which to me is an absurd question. The only existence Superman has in the real world is as a comic book or movie character, and that’s where he is most useful and most functional, as far as I’m concerned. He’s a metaphor. He is an allegory. He stands for everything that is good in us.

It sounds like there have been at least some iterations of this character throughout his near-century of existence — from your dying version to this ideal version, to this all-powerful version. But I believe Superman even started as a bit of a tough guy, a headbasher, and maybe even a left-wing revolutionary. Can you tell us about the non-Kryptonian origins of this character, and how he came to be on Earth?

Well, he arrived in Cleveland, Ohio. He was created by two teenagers, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, who’d met at school. Jerry was the writer and Joe was the artist. They wanted to work for newspapers. Newspaper syndication was the place to go for cartoons back then. They were working on this notion called “The Superman.” The original version was an evil bald guy who eventually became Lex Luthor in the Superman story. But after a few tries, they hit on this fabulous notion of: Let’s give him a wrestling costume with a cape so that we can track his movement across the panels, and make him very colorful so that he’s memorable.

The greatest addition to the design was to put his monogram on his chest so that the character’s entire identity was summed up in this very simple advertising motif that people can remember and people can also wear and partake in being Superman. It was created by two young kids who were the sons of immigrants — European immigrants, Jewish boys — and this was their vision.

Superman was a do-gooder. He was here to help people. He’d come from a distant world, but thought the only use for power and strength was to help the downtrodden and the oppressed. Early issues of Action Comics depict a Superman who’s very much an outlaw. He goes after corrupt union bosses. He goes after mine owners. He goes after politicians who are corrupt.

Superman later was seen as a messianic figure of hope, which I don’t really like, because I think he’s a fighter, he’s a scrapper. He gets into fights on behalf of the little guy. He gets bloodied up and he gets up again. You shoot him [with] a tank shell, and he gets up again.

Through the years, that changed quite radically. The socialist figure of the early years hit 1942 and suddenly it was war, and Superman became incredibly patriotic, and that’s where the “Truth, justice, and the American way” thing first appears.

Then, in the 1950s, Superman changes again completely. You’re dealing with guys coming home from the war, domestication, and living in suburbia. So Superman becomes a family drama, but on a titanic scale. He has friends from the future who visit and cause trouble. He has a cousin who survived the destruction of Krypton, he has a dog, and he has a monkey. So Superman then, to me, was probably at his peak, but he was representative of post-war masculinity trying to adjust to a world of relatives and not being married. Those stories were obsessed with the relationship with Lois [Lane].

In the 1960s, he becomes a cosmic seeker. He almost goes back to his roots, and we have stories where he is fighting for Native American land rights, he’s up against polluters, and very much back to the activist Superman. And so it goes. In the 1980s, he’s a yuppie. In the 1990s, they kill him in order to make it interesting, then bring it back as a soap opera set around the fictional newspaper, the Daily Planet. And into the 2000s, you get the work that I did.

It’s funny to hear you lay out this history in which Superman at one point is something of a socialist warrior, because all of these pundits who are mad about James Gunn saying that Superman’s an immigrant, if they really knew the history here, there’s so much more they could be mad about.

Absolutely. As you say, if anyone had bothered to look at the history of Superman, they’d see that he was always an immigrant created by immigrants. He represented that experience, but he was assimilated. I mean, he was an American. He’d been raised by American parents. So that was very important as well. And I think the combination of these two qualities is what maybe drives people mad, because they want it to be either one thing or another, but Superman’s trying to embody everyone.

It’s funny, a thing that we talk about the first half of the show is that depending on how tuned into the news you are, you can see a lot of what’s going on in the world today in this movie. But of course, this movie wasn’t made this week. It was made a year ago.
Yeah.
The meetings about this movie probably started five years ago. Do you think there’s something about the nature of Superman that makes him timeless?

I definitely believe that. I mean, we are talking about the history of Superman, which goes back to 1938. Superman has outlived his creators. He’s also outlived the people who took over from his creators, and the next generation of the people who took over from his creators.

Superman is more real than I am. He’s more real than most of us. He will outlive us all, and he’ll still have meaning to people in the future. People have even forgotten that his look was based on early 20th-century circus strongmen and wrestling outfits. So now it’s the template for the ideal superhero. And because he was the first, he’s got the best name, the most primal name. I absolutely think Superman will persist beyond even the next few generations. As long as the world stays together and there’s such a thing as culture, I think there’ll still be a Superman.

Trump turns on MAGA base: “I don’t want their support anymore!” https://earlybirdsinvest.com/trump-turns-on-maga-base-i-dont-want-their-support-anymore/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/trump-turns-on-maga-base-i-dont-want-their-support-anymore/#respond Wed, 16 Jul 2025 19:25:10 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/trump-turns-on-maga-base-i-dont-want-their-support-anymore/

Donald Trump blasted his own MAGA followers in a panic-post this morning, calling them “weaklings” for demanding to see the Epstein files. He then blew them off as if they were flys hovering over his morning porridge: “I don’t want their support anymore!”

“The Radical Left Democrats have hit pay dirt, again!” Trump cried on Truth Social, twisting the Epstein narrative as if it were a conspiracy theory started by the left. “Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullsh*t,’ hook, line, and sinker.”

“Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work,” Trump continued, turning against his loyalists who have failed to run with MAGA’s ever-changing propaganda. “Don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!”

So pedophile Jeffrey Epstein died in prison, and, like the files on Attorney General Pam Bondi’s desk, Epstein’s cohort Ghislaine Maxwell still sits in prison. But also, it’s all just a hoax. For those experiencing whiplash in the MAGA cult: learn to keep up or get out!
