and other cryptocurrencies.

Speaking on Anthony Pompliano’s podcast on May 1, Ellis explained that these digital assets can help the US stay ahead in global technology competition, especially against China.

Ellis stated, “It’s another area of technological competition where we need to make sure the United States is very well positioned against China and other adversaries. He added that “Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are another tool in the toolbox”, but “also a target”.

Ellis explained that digital assets could serve two purposes. They can help US intelligence services collect valuable information, and at the same time, they offer a way to disrupt activities by foreign enemies. Since cryptocurrencies record all transactions publicly, Ellis suggested they create new opportunities for tracking illegal or suspicious money movements.

However, Ellis also noted that crypto is not only used by governments and businesses. It is also popular among criminal groups, including drug cartels, terrorist organizations, and hostile states. He mentioned that hackers linked to North Korea often rely on cryptocurrency to move stolen money.

Despite the risks, he stated, “Bitcoin is here to stay, cryptocurrency is here to stay, as you know more and more institutions are adopting it, and I think that’s a great trend”.

Recently, Greg Cipolaro, head of research at New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG), shared his views on Bitcoin during periods of market stress. What did he say? Read the full story.

Bitcoin and Other Crypto Assets Are Tools That Can Be Used for Intelligence Gathering, Says CIA Deputy Director https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-and-other-crypto-assets-are-tools-that-can-be-used-for-intelligence-gathering-says-cia-deputy-director/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-and-other-crypto-assets-are-tools-that-can-be-used-for-intelligence-gathering-says-cia-deputy-director/#respond Fri, 02 May 2025 20:14:45 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-and-other-crypto-assets-are-tools-that-can-be-used-for-intelligence-gathering-says-cia-deputy-director/

The deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) says that the law enforcement and intelligence community can use crypto to track down US adversaries and disrupt their activities.

In an interview with crypto bull and influencer Anthony Pompliano, Michael Ellis says that Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies have potential uses amid views that bad actors use these assets to carry out illicit activities.

“We use technology as a tool and Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are another tool in the toolbox. It’s something that we can use to disrupt our adversaries’ use of it and we can use these technologies to collect more intelligence, to gather more information about them. In that respect, Bitcoin is actually very similar to other sorts of advanced technologies and one that we have to prioritize.”

Ellis also says that crypto is not a passing trend. He says that while not everyone in the government shares open or progressive views about new technologies, he and CIA Director John Ratcliffe are helping lead changes in the intelligence agency.

“Bitcoin is here to stay. Cryptocurrency is here to stay. More and more institutions are adopting it and I think that’s a great trend and one that this administration has been obviously leaning forward to.”

On Monday, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Blanche released a memo entitled “Prosecutor’s Ending Regulations,” which stated that the U.S. Department of Justice would stop crackdowns on Bitcoin and crypto mixers.

Here is the exact language he used in his notes:

“…The Department of Justice will suspend participation in regulations through prosecutions in this area. Specifically, the department will no longer target crypto exchanges, mixed and tumbling services, and offline wallets due to end-user conduct or unconscious violations of regulations.”

The next day, New York Attorney General (NYAG) James co-authored a letter calling on Congressional leaders to create federal crypto regulations to prevent the use of crypto mixers for illegal purposes.

Here’s what she and her co-authors had to say about the crypto mixer:

“Effective laws must require cryptocurrency platforms to expressly comply with the Anti-Money Laundering Act. To know about customer (“KYC”) regulations and cybersecurity protocols, we must prevent terrorism, hostile regimes and crime financing to prevent the use of cryptocurrencies. USD. ”

Dag Blanche has benefited from the doubts of users of Bitcoin and Crypto mixers, but NY AG James implied that all users of such mixers are criminals, as all users of such mixers call them “money laundering mixers.”

Such language is deeply concerned about hearing from the state’s attorney general (the lawyer) as if to speculate on guilt.

NY AG James has adopted this type of rhetoric, mainly in Bitcoin and crypto since taking on the role of Attorney General in 2018, and has been working on the role of 1. ) She has never allowed human rights and democratic activists to use the mixer to preserve both the privacy and privacy of donors.

So, as Bitcoin privacy becomes more prominent in the political field, you should amplify the type of rhetoric that Dag Blanche uses, and make sure it pushes back dangerous and unjust rhetoric from things like NY AG James.

It is up to us to hear our voices on this issue and to let elected officials know that it is important to us.

The fight is underway for the right to personally transfer value across the Internet. Don’t stay on the sidelines.
