Hot off the heels of the Pixel 10 launch, Google unveiled a new Android Canary release. The August 2025 Android Canary update rolled out today to users enrolled in the Canary program, and it finally brings a long-awaited personalization option: the ability to customize icon shapes on the home screen. While the new version doesn’t let you create your own icon shape, it does let you choose from five delightful presets, one of which will definitely suit your fancy.

After installing the latest Canary release and opening the Wallpaper & Style app, developer Kieron Quinn noticed that the “Icons” menu had changed. Instead of only having a toggle to enable icon theming, the “Icons” menu now has several icon shape options. These include the default circle shape as well as new square, four-sided cookie, seven-sided cookie, and arch options.

Interestingly, the sixth “complex clover” shape that we spotted back in March is missing from this page. We’re not sure why that shape was removed, but perhaps it clashed too heavily with certain icons.

Another thing missing from this build is the new forced icon theming feature that Google added in Android 16 QPR2 Beta 1. It’s not clear why, but we suspect this is merely a quirk of the build date and release structure of the latest Canary versus the latest QPR beta. The next Canary release may add the forced theming feature, while the next QPR2 beta is likely to gain these new icon shape options, though nothing is guaranteed. We’ll keep an eye out on both release tracks to see what happens with this feature as well as Google’s other upcoming icon customization options.

It’s been almost two years since Dutch smartphone maker Fairphone released the Fairphone 5, and a successor is long overdue. Fortunately, there’s finally some good news. A new leak suggests that the Fairphone 6 may be right around the corner, and it could feature an updated modular design with support for interchangeable accessories.

The Fairphone 6 could launch on June 25, according to retail data sourced by Dutch publication Nieuwe Mobiel. The device will reportedly be available in a single 8GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration, with WinFuture adding that Fairphone will offer it in three colors: Horizon Black, Cloud White, and Forest Green.

Although we don’t have more details about the Fairphone 6’s internal hardware, WinFuture has shared an image of its front profile and revealed that it could feature a modular two-part back panel. This new back panel could be somewhat similar to what we’ve seen on the CMF Phone 1, and allow users to easily switch to a different color back panel or utilize its two-part design to give the phone a dual-tone look.

The modular back panel will also support accessories like a card holder, a lanyard, or a ring to make holding the device easier. We don’t have a clear idea of the mounting mechanism for these accessories, as the image doesn’t showcase the phone’s back panel. However, it does give us a look at what appears to be a sliding latch, which might allow users to open the back panel easily.

Furthermore, the publication adds that the Fairphone 6 will feature a user-replaceable main, wide-angle, and selfie cameras. Like the Fairphone 5, its earpiece, speaker, USB-C port, display, and battery will also be interchangeable. Fairphone could retail the phone for €549.99 (~$629), but we’ll have to wait until the launch for confirmation.

I’m currently using solomine on my node using BTC Knox with Umbrelos and experimenting with Public Pool.io. I would like to customize some settings, such as:

Coinbase Tag: I want to set a custom coinbase tag for my mining rewards.

Work/Job Update Time: I’d like to adjust how frequently the pool updates work/jobs.

Other Customization: Are there additional settings I can tweak to optimize my setup?

With Datum I found it relatively easy to make these changes, but using Datum for solo mining on a node is not entirely comfortable. Public Pool.io appears to suit my needs better, but I don’t know where or how to create these customizations.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Looked through the Public Pool.io documentation but couldn’t find specific instructions for these settings.

Explored the BTC Knox interface on UmbrelOS but didn’t see obvious options for these customization.

Can someone guide me on how to adjust these settings in public Pool.io? Is there a configuration file or a specific command I need to use? Tips and examples are welcome!
