Litecoin delivered a clear warning for anyone navigating the crypto world: the era of truly decentralized, fairly launched, proof-of-work (PoW) coins without borders, premines, or venture capitalists is behind us. Amid increasing centralization and rising threat of attack, it pays to “choose your freedom money wisely.”

“It is basically impossible to duplicate the launch of a fully decentralized, fairly launched, no pre-mine, borderless, void of VC’s, hard capped PoW cryptocurrency like that of bitcoin or litecoin and not have it co-opted or attacked at this point. That ship has sailed, people..”

Why security and decentralization matter: the Monero attack

Recent events with Monero (XMR) help to illustrate Litecoin’s message. On August 12, 2025, Monero suffered a 51% attack after the Qubic mining pool gained majority control of its hash rate, reorganizing six blocks and orphaning approximately 60 others.

This temporarily threatened network security, forced Kraken exchange to suspend Monero deposits, and sent the price tumbling over 13% in a week. The attack highlighted a key vulnerability of PoW chains that lack critical mass (especially those that are privacy-focused with fewer miners), showing that even pioneering projects with solid privacy technology, like Monero, are not immune if their degree of decentralization is insufficient.

Proof of stake and the perils of co-option

While PoW chains like Bitcoin and Litecoin have stayed loyal to their launch principles, many newer chains have adopted the proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus in a quest for reduced energy consumption and greater transaction speed.

PoS allows users to stake coins to help secure the network and earn rewards. However, the centralizing tendencies of PoS are well-documented. According to the academic study, Centralization in Proof-of-Stake Blockchains: A Game-Theoretic Analysis, by July 2025, more than 60% of staked Ethereum belonged to just five entities, including Lido and major exchanges.

This concentration led to governance votes where a small number of stakeholders wielded disproportionate power, influencing upgrades and protocol changes.

Solana’s validator and staking ecosystem is similarly dominated by a handful of well-capitalized entities. This exposes the network to outsized influence and increased risks of censorship or manipulation if those actors coordinate, are pressured, or compromised; “co-opted,” as Litecoin wrote.

While PoS is efficient and scalable, the system’s fate can hinge on large holders, making it vulnerable to regulatory capture, exchange outages, or orchestrated attacks. The same study revealed that the more centralized staking becomes, the greater the chance of network co-option, as opposed to the more resilient distributed mining models of classic PoW blockchains.

The value of “freedom money”

While there is arguably no second best, Bitcoin and Litecoin, both launched without VC money or pre-mines and with fixed supply caps, remain touchstones for true “freedom money.” Their reliance on open PoW mining, global distribution, and established security has shielded them from many co-option risks.

Widespread distribution of mining power, fixed supplies (21 million for Bitcoin, 84 million for Litecoin), and permissionless participation make them rare examples in an increasingly centralized crypto landscape.

With the rise of attacks on vulnerable PoW networks and increasing centralization of PoS chains, Litecoin’s advice couldn’t be more timely. Freedom money isn’t just about price; it’s about resilience, distribution, and the ability to resist capture from within or without, not only defining your portfolio, but your financial sovereignty.

Korean Investors Choose Crypto-Linked Stocks Over Us Big Technology: KCIF Report https://earlybirdsinvest.com/korean-investors-choose-crypto-linked-stocks-over-us-big-technology-kcif-report/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/korean-investors-choose-crypto-linked-stocks-over-us-big-technology-kcif-report/#respond Mon, 11 Aug 2025 12:02:32 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/korean-investors-choose-crypto-linked-stocks-over-us-big-technology-kcif-report/

Why have Korean retail investors shifted their overseas portfolios from US big technology to virtual asset-related stocks? What is especially tied to the stubcoin? A recent report by the Korean International Finance Center (KCIF) revealed by the Korean Times on August 11, 2025, shows that changes in investors’ sentiment are primarily based on the US genius law.

Interestingly, the percentage of crypto-related names among the top 50 net-purchased foreign stocks by Koreans jumped from 8.5% in January to 36.5% in June, relaxing to 31.4% in July this year.

Additionally, net purchases of the top seven big tech stocks in the US averaged $1.68 billion (January to April) each month to $440 million in May, $670 million in June and $260 million in July.

KCIF believes the rotation is attributed to increased interest in Stablecoin-related stocks

“Investments in virtual assets, particularly stocks related to Stablecoins, have grown following the passage of the US Genius Act,” the report states.

The report attributes to a growing interest in absurd stock after the US genius law was caught up in the law by US President Donald Trump, and the US genius law established a regulatory framework that allows the private sector of stubcoin to be issued.

In particular, Korean investors are interested in US stocks as domestic stock markets struggle. However, KCIF stated:Although domestic stock markets have outperformed overseas markets since June, local currencies have been strengthened, urging individual investors to withdraw from foreign markets. ”

South Korea’s political heavyweights are square over the stubcoin bill

Two of South Korea’s biggest political parties are on the centre stage, and have announced their rival Stubcoin bills within the country. The ban on paying interest on Stablecoins is the most controversial issue in the Stablecoin bill.

Lawmakers from both the ruling Democratic Party (DP) and the opposition People’s Rights Party (PPP) introduced laws in late July 2025 that could pave the way for winning stubcoins.

According to a local news report released on July 28, 2025,His ruling party believes interest payments should be banned to prevent market disruption, but the opposition believes that winning stubcoins need to be competitive. ”

Each proposal reflects differences in innovation, protection and financial sovereignty.

The newly elected South Korean president, Lee Jae-myeon, has openly advocated for stubcoin, and his administration shows that it will fill a major gap in the country’s financial environment.

Jae-Myung proposes low company eligibility in defending Stablecoins, as a 500m winner ($370,000) to be able to issue Stablecoins.

  • KCIF flagged lingering concerns about the actual economic impact of the US tariff scheme, suggesting that South Korean retail investors are likely to be cautious about inventory close to foreign stocks.

  • According to KCIF, Korean retail investors have switched from large US engineers to stocks related to overseas stocks after the US genius law became law.

    CEX or DEX: how to choose your fighter https://earlybirdsinvest.com/cex-or-dex-how-to-choose-your-fighter/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/cex-or-dex-how-to-choose-your-fighter/#respond Wed, 06 Aug 2025 16:18:33 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/cex-or-dex-how-to-choose-your-fighter/

And we’re back with another day of Crypto 101.

Yesterday, we covered the different types of crypto trading – if you missed it, catch up here.

And today, we’re looking at where you can do it.

More specifically, we’re comparing CEXs vs. DEXs – what they are, how they work, their pros, cons, and why you might pick one over the other.

    Ready? Let’s jump in 👇

Meme of a guy jumping towards us

    CEXs

    Full government name: centralized exchanges.

These are your classic crypto trading platforms – like Binance, Kraken, Bybit, MEXC, and ChangeNOW – where most people start their crypto journey.

And just like the name suggests, the control over these platforms is centralized a single entity runs the show, manages your account, and makes the rules.

Meme about CEXs being in charge

These platforms basically work like Tinder for crypto trades.

When you wanna buy or sell, they use something called an order book – a list of who’s buying and selling, and at what prices.

When your order matches someone else’s, the exchange connects the two and the trade happens.

Meme about the similarities between Tinder and an order book

However, most of the time, there aren’t enough regular people placing trades to keep things going.

That’s why CEXs rely on market makers – usually bots or companies that constantly place buy and sell orders to make sure there’s always action in the order book.

They profit from the price difference (called the spread), but more importantly, they keep the exchange liquid so you’re not stuck waiting forever for someone to match your order.

Now, when you buy crypto on a CEX, the coins don’t go straight into your personal wallet. Instead, they’re stored in what’s called a custodial wallet– a wallet the exchange controls for you.

You can see your balance, sure, but you don’t actually hold the keys to access the funds directly.

That’s why you’ll often hear the phrase: “Not your keys, not your coins.” If something bad happens or the platform crashes (hi, FTX 👋), you could lose access to your funds.

But in return for that trust, you usually get a smoother, more beginner-friendly experience: fiat deposits, credit card payments, mobile apps, customer support, and even features like staking or earning interest on your coins.

So, you’re giving up control for convenience.

Meme about you not being in charge

    DEXs

    Full government name: decentralized exchanges.

These are platforms with no central authority – no company runs it, no sign-ups, no forms asking for your passport.

    You’re in full control.

(Which is kinda the whole point of crypto in the first place.)

Meme about you being in charge

But how do they work without someone running things?

Well, everything everything is powered by smart contracts – self-executing code on the blockchain that processes everything automatically.

When you hit “swap,” the smart contract checks if the trade is possible, processes it, and moves the assets between wallets.

    Brent Rambo thumbs up meme

Now, DEXs don’t use order books like CEXs do. Instead, they rely on something called liquidity pools.

Think of a liquidity pool like a vending machine that’s stocked with two different tokens – let’s say ETH and USDC.

Instead of a company filling the machine, it’s regular users (called liquidity providers) who supply both tokens hoping to earn a cut of the fees every time someone makes a trade.

When you trade, you’re not dealing with another person directly. You’re just swapping tokens with the machine – taking some USDC out, putting ETH in, or vice versa.

And the price? There’s no one setting it manually. Instead, the vending machine uses a built-in formula – called an automated market maker (AMM) – that adjusts prices automatically based on supply and demand.

If lots of people are buying ETH, the pool runs low on ETH, so the AMM raises the price to reflect that.

Guy standing at the vending machine filled with USDC and ETH

And now, for the big difference: DEXs are non-custodial. That means you keep full control of your crypto at all times.

You connect your non-custodial wallet (like MetaMask), approve the transaction, and the trade happens directly between your wallet and the smart contract.

There’s no KYC, and the exchange itself never touches your private keys or holds your funds.

But freedom comes with risk. If you lose access to your wallet or mess up a transaction, there’s no support team to call. You’re the one holding the keys and the consequences.

Spiderman quote: "With great power comes great responsibility."

    To summarize:

    Choose your fighter 🥊

    Codex

ChatGPT’s Codex, which is an AI agent that lets you code and delegate programming tasks, is now testing a new feature that lets you choose the best solution.

OpenAI launched Codex in April, and it’s a great tool, but it’s nowhere close to replacing entry-level engineers.

OpenAI insists Codex could help developers achieve more by delegating their tasks to different agents, and a new update brings it closer to the expectations set by the company.

As per the release notes, ChatGPT Codex can now generate multiple responses simultaneously for a single task.

This means users can now explore multiple solutions, and pick the best approach instead of asking OpenAI to give another approach.

In addition, OpenAI has added some keyboard shortcuts and a page to explore them.

For example, you can now open Codex by pressing ⌘-/ on macOS and Ctrl+/ on other platforms. The update has added a “branch” query parameter in addition to the existing “environment”, “prompt” and “tab=archived” parameters.

    Here’s the complete changelog:

    • Added a loading indicator when downloading a repo during container setup.
    • Added support for cancelling tasks.
    • Fixed issues causing tasks to fail during setup.
    • Fixed issues running followups in environments where the setup script changes files that are gitignored.
    • Improved how the agent understands and reacts to network access restrictions.
    • Increased the update rate of text describing what Codex is doing.
    • Increased the limit for setup script duration to 20 minutes for Pro, Team, and Business users.
    • Polished code diffs: You can now option-click a code diff header to expand/collapse all of them.

Codex is based on codex-1, which is a new version of ChatGPT based on the existing o3 model, but it has been optimized for coding, which results in increased accuracy.

    Codex in ChatGPT

Codex pulls codebase from GitHub, and it can write new code, propose pull requests, and run each task in its own sandbox.

Codex is available with $20 Plus subscription.

    Tines Needle

Patching used to mean complex scripts, long hours, and endless fire drills. Not anymore.

In this new guide, Tines breaks down how modern IT orgs are leveling up with automation. Patch faster, reduce overhead, and focus on strategic work — no complex scripts required.

And my default is also set to 128.

However, even reading the manual, you will see that you need to set the minimum difficulty level to 1024 at 1/s and increase linearly with the hashrate.

According to the table, my difficulty should be 13312, which is 13 times. This is much higher than the 128 pool.

Do I need to set the minimum difficulty level?

How to Choose the Best Bitcoin Wallet for Digital Security https://earlybirdsinvest.com/how-to-choose-the-best-bitcoin-wallet-for-digital-security/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/how-to-choose-the-best-bitcoin-wallet-for-digital-security/#respond Fri, 30 May 2025 17:12:18 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/how-to-choose-the-best-bitcoin-wallet-for-digital-security/

As Bitcoin adoption increases, so does the risk of theft, loss, and user error. For anyone holding cryptocurrency, choosing the best bitcoin wallet is a key decision—not just for convenience, but for long-term security.

A Bitcoin wallet controls access to digital funds through cryptographic keys, and if these keys are compromised or lost, the associated Bitcoin cannot be recovered. The wide range of available wallets—from software to hardware to offline methods—can make selection difficult, especially for new users.

Understanding how wallets work, what they protect, and how they differ is essential to managing cryptocurrency safely. This article explains the main types of Bitcoin wallets, outlines how they function, and examines the trade-offs between security and usability.

    What is a Bitcoin Wallet?

A Bitcoin wallet is a tool used to manage private keys—the cryptographic credentials that prove ownership of Bitcoin.

The wallet does not store Bitcoin itself, as all coins exist on the blockchain. Instead, it allows users to access, send, and receive funds by signing transactions with their private key.

Each wallet also generates public addresses derived from the private key. These addresses can be shared to receive funds, but only the corresponding private key can authorise outgoing transactions. If the private key is lost or exposed, access to the Bitcoin is permanently lost.

    Source: Ledger

What are the types of wallets and how do they work?

There are three main types of Bitcoin wallets, each with its own security and usability characteristics:

    • Software Wallets: These are applications running on internet-connected devices like smartphones or computers. They offer convenience and fast access but are more vulnerable to hacking or malware if proper security measures are not taken.
    • Cold Wallets: These wallets keep private keys completely offline, such as paper wallets or air-gapped computers. Cold wallets provide strong security by eliminating network exposure but require more complex processes to execute transactions.
    • Hardware Wallets: These are dedicated physical devices designed to securely generate and store private keys offline. Transactions are signed within the device, which isolates keys from internet-connected systems, providing a balance of security and usability.

    Source: Ledger

Why should you use hardware wallets?

Hardware wallets reduce the risk of remote attacks by keeping private keys in secure, tamper-resistant chips that never connect directly to the internet.

Users must physically confirm transactions on the device, which prevents malicious software from altering transaction details. Because they operate offline when not in use, hardware wallets combine the protection benefits of cold wallets with the convenience of software wallets, making them a widely recommended choice for protecting significant cryptocurrency holdings.

These wallets are often more complex to use than basic software wallets. However, recent improvements—such as clearer user interfaces and mobile compatibility—have made them more accessible to the general public.

What are the advantages of using a Ledger Wallet?

Ledger is a leading hardware wallet manufacturer whose devices incorporate several key security features:

    • Secure Screen Verification: Ledger devices include a screen that is fully isolated from any internet-connected system. This ensures users can independently verify each transaction, protecting against malware or approval hijacking.
    • Offline Key Generation & Secure Element: All private keys are created and remain within a certified Secure Element chip, ensuring they never interface with Internet-connected hardware.
    • Genuine Check Integrity Verification: A cryptographic bootloader authenticates firmware on each startup, blocking unauthorized or malicious updates.
    • Security Certifications: The Ledger Nano X and Ledger Stax models have received certification from France’s National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI), confirming their resistance to various attack methods.

Whilst Ledger wallets require users to keep recovery phrases securely offline and to purchase the physical device, their design prioritises security without sacrificing usability. They also support a broad range of cryptocurrencies, allowing users to manage multiple assets within a single ecosystem.

Choose the Right Crypto Wallet for Your Business
Choose the Right Crypto Wallet for Your Business

In today’s fast-moving digital economy, businesses are increasingly adopting cryptocurrencies as a part of their financial operations. Whether you want to accept crypto payments, manage digital assets, or integrate blockchain technology into your services, selecting the right crypto wallet is a critical decision. With a wide variety of Crypto Wallet Development Services available, understanding the key features and considerations can help your business make an informed choice that meets both your current needs and future goals.

A business crypto wallet is a digital tool that allows companies to store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies securely. Unlike personal wallets, business wallets are designed to handle larger volumes, multiple users, and more complex operations. They often come with advanced features such as multi-signature support, integration with accounting systems, and robust security protocols.

Businesses have unique requirements that personal wallets cannot address. These include:

    • Handling large volumes of transactions
    • Managing multiple users and permissions
    • Integrating with business tools and platforms
    • Complying with regulatory standards

Choosing a wallet that is tailored for business use can help you avoid operational bottlenecks and security risks.

Selecting the right crypto wallet for your business involves evaluating several critical features. Here’s a detailed look at the most important factors:

Security should always be your top priority. Business wallets must protect your digital assets from unauthorized access, fraud, and cyber threats. Look for the following security features:

    • Multi-Signature (Multisig) Support: Requires multiple private keys to authorize a transaction, reducing the risk of unauthorized access.
    • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification.
    • Hardware Wallet Integration: Allows for the use of physical devices to store private keys offline, providing added protection against online threats.
    • Fraud Detection and Alerts: Notifies you of suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
    • Regular Security Updates: Ensures the wallet is protected against the latest threats.

A user-friendly interface is essential for businesses with employees who may not be crypto experts. The wallet should offer:

    • Intuitive Navigation: Easy-to-use menus and clear instructions.
    • Accessibility Across Devices: Support for desktop, mobile, and web platforms so your team can access funds from anywhere.
    • Wallet Recovery Options: Simple processes for recovering lost passwords or private keys.
    • Clear Transaction History: Easy-to-read records of all transactions for auditing and reporting.

Businesses often need to manage multiple digital assets. A good business wallet should support a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and popular altcoins. This flexibility allows you to adapt to changing market demands and customer preferences.

Business wallets should integrate with other tools and platforms to streamline operations. Consider the following integration options:

    • Payment Systems: Accept crypto payments from customers and vendors.
    • Accounting and Financial Software: Automate record-keeping and financial reporting.
    • Blockchain Platforms: Connect to various blockchain networks for broader functionality.
    • DeFi and dApps: Access decentralized finance platforms and applications for additional financial services.

Compliance with local and international regulations is crucial for businesses. Ensure the wallet provider meets regulatory standards and offers features such as:

    • KYC/AML Procedures: Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks to prevent fraud and comply with legal requirements.
    • Audit Trails: Detailed logs of all transactions for regulatory reporting and audits.
    • Licensed and Regulated Providers: Choose wallets from reputable, regulated companies to minimize legal risks.

Businesses often have multiple team members handling crypto transactions. Look for wallets that offer:

    • Role-Based Access Control: Assign different levels of access to employees based on their roles.
    • Transaction Approval Workflows: Require multiple approvals for sensitive transactions.
    • Activity Logs: Track who performed which actions for accountability.

Reliable customer support is essential for resolving issues quickly and minimizing downtime. Consider the following:

    • 24/7 Support: Access to help whenever you need it.
    • Quick Response Times: Fast resolution of technical or operational issues.
    • Service Uptime: High availability to ensure your business operations are not disrupted.

In the fast-paced business world, quick transaction processing is important. Evaluate the wallet’s transaction speed and fee structure to ensure it meets your operational needs.

Easy conversion between crypto and fiat currencies is important for businesses that need to manage cash flow. Look for wallets that offer:

    • Fiat Currency Support: Ability to hold and transact in multiple fiat currencies.
    • Easy Onboarding/Offboarding: Simple processes for converting crypto to fiat and vice versa.

As your business grows, your wallet should be able to scale with you. Consider wallets that offer:

    • Customizable Features: Ability to add or modify features as needed.
    • Scalable Infrastructure: Support for increasing transaction volumes and user numbers.

To help you understand the differences, here’s a comparison table:

When choosing a crypto wallet provider for your business, follow these steps:

    1. Define Your Business Needs: Identify what you need from a wallet, such as the number of users, supported currencies, and integration requirements.
    2. Research Providers: Compare top business wallet providers based on security, features, and reputation.
    3. Check Reviews and Testimonials: Look for feedback from other businesses to gauge reliability and customer satisfaction.
    4. Test the Wallet: Use demo versions or free trials to evaluate the user experience and functionality.
    5. Assess Security Measures: Verify the wallet’s security features and compliance with industry standards.
    6. Evaluate Support Options: Ensure the provider offers responsive and helpful customer support.
    7. Consider Future Growth: Choose a wallet that can scale with your business and adapt to new technologies.

Business crypto wallets are used in a variety of scenarios, including:

    • Accepting Crypto Payments: Online stores and service providers can accept payments in multiple cryptocurrencies.
    • Managing Digital Assets: Companies can securely store and manage their crypto holdings.
    • Paying Employees and Vendors: Payroll and vendor payments can be processed using crypto.
    • Integrating with Blockchain Services: Businesses can connect to DeFi platforms, smart contracts, and other blockchain applications.
    • Complying with Regulations: Maintain audit trails and comply with KYC/AML requirements.

While crypto wallets offer many benefits, they also come with risks. Here are some best practices to keep your business safe:

    • Use Strong Security Measures: Always enable 2FA, multisig, and hardware wallet integration.
    • Regularly Update Software: Keep your wallet and related software up to date to protect against vulnerabilities.
    • Train Employees: Educate your team on security best practices and how to use the wallet safely.
    • Monitor Transactions: Regularly review transaction logs for any suspicious activity.
    • Backup Private Keys: Store backup copies of private keys in secure locations.
    • Work with Reputable Providers: Choose wallets from established, regulated companies.

Developing a custom crypto wallet for your business can offer unique advantages, such as tailored features, branding, and integration with your existing systems. When selecting a crypto wallet development partner, consider the following:

    • Experience and Expertise: Look for a provider with a proven track record in Crypto Wallet Development Services.

    DJI Osmo Mobile 7P or Osmo Pocket 3? I’m a creator, and this is how I’d choose https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dji-osmo-mobile-7p-or-osmo-pocket-3-im-a-creator-and-this-is-how-id-choose/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dji-osmo-mobile-7p-or-osmo-pocket-3-im-a-creator-and-this-is-how-id-choose/#respond Sun, 13 Apr 2025 21:30:59 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dji-osmo-mobile-7p-or-osmo-pocket-3-im-a-creator-and-this-is-how-id-choose/
DJI Osmo Mobile 7P vs DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (2 of 2)

    C. Scott Brown / Android Authority

Since its launch in 2023, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 ($519 at Amazon) has become a sensation in the world of content creation. As a creator, I see dozens of them at every tech event. Since I started using one myself, I’ve convinced the wider Android Authority team to adopt it. We now usually have three or four of them with us when we travel to major events like CES, MWC, and Google I/O.

Recently, though, DJI launched another stellar product that everyone seems to love, too: the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P ($149.99 at Amazon). It’s similar to the Pocket 3 in that it is a travel-friendly accessory that helps you capture content quickly and easily. However, since it requires one of the best camera phones to function well, it differs significantly from the Osmo Pocket 3.

If you’re a creator — or just an enthusiast who likes to document their adventures — you might be on the fence about buying either one of these products. While both are utterly fantastic, they do offer very different experiences at very different price points. From one creator to another, allow me to explain the reasons why you should (or shouldn’t) buy one of these content creation tools!

Reasons to go with the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P

DJI Osmo Mobile 7P on table next to retail box

    C. Scott Brown / Android Authority

The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is the newer and cheaper option, so let’s start there. It’s a smartphone gimbal that electronically stabilizes your phone to help it capture buttery-smooth video. DJI’s three-axis stabilization is second to none in the industry, and the Osmo Mobile 7P’s new hardware feature — a multifunction module that allows you to lock onto a subject using hand gestures — makes this an incredibly powerful video capture tool.

The Osmo Mobile 7P is relatively inexpensive and offers a lot of versatility since it works in tandem with your smartphone.

The most important thing you need to know about this gimbal is that it will only be as good as the phone you snap into it. So, it’s ideal if you already own a great camera phone or are willing to invest in one. This also gives it a distinct advantage: the Osmo Mobile 7P doesn’t really age. The quality of your videos will only get better over time because a) you’ll be getting better at shooting as you learn the tricks of the trade, and b) you can always snap a newer, better camera phone into the gimbal if you want a higher quality image. This is the Osmo Mobile 7P’s greatest perk over the Osmo Pocket 3, which I’ll touch on in a bit.

Size and weight are also very important to the creator on the go, and the Osmo Mobile 7P is pretty good in that regard. First, it folds up, which is not a standard feature for prosumer gimbals. When folded, it can easily be stuffed into a backpack, purse, or even an oversized pocket on cargo pants, which can be very helpful for quick, off-the-cuff shooting. It also weighs 350g, about as heavy as a can of soup. Granted, that is a higher weight than some competitor gimbals, even those from DJI itself. The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 ($89.99 at Amazon), for example, only weighs 300g. However, that model lacks a lot of the features of the Osmo Mobile 7P, so there is a trade-off.

Even though it folds up, the Osmo Mobile 7P is pretty heavy and cumbersome when compared to the Osmo Pocket 3.

The previously mentioned multifunction module that comes with the Osmo Mobile 7P is also worth noting. It allows you to use the standard camera app that controls the front- or rear-facing cameras on your phone while auto-tracking a subject. For example, this could allow you to set up the gimbal on a tripod (it has a standard 1/4-inch mount and also built-in tripod feet, if needed), track yourself as the subject, and then move around a set area with the camera always following you. This is essential for shoots where you are alone but want some dynamic flair (and don’t want to just hold your phone in the classic vlog style). The multifunction module also supports the DJI Mic Mini ($169.99 at Amazon), so you can get terrific audio quality and not rely on your phone’s microphone. It also has a built-in fill lightin for some extra clarity on your subject.

For a list price of $149, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is a terrific investment for any content creator. However, if you factor in the cost of a powerful smartphone with an excellent camera, the DJI Mic Mini, a tripod, and other accessories, it can add up to a whole lot more than $149 if you want a fully self-contained shooting kit. It also isn’t as travel-friendly as the Osmo Pocket 3. Let’s examine that one!

Reasons to go with the DJI Osmo Pocket 3

    C. Scott Brown / Android Authority

In brief, the Osmo Pocket 3 can do everything the Osmo Mobile 7P can do — and more. The crucial difference between the two is that the Pocket model is a self-contained unit, meaning you do not need to snap a phone into it. In fact, you don’t even need your smartphone at all, as it can perform nearly every step of creating a video on its own. You’ll only need your phone (or a tablet, laptop, or other computer) to edit and post the video.

The Osmo Pocket 3 is a self-contained device, so you don’t need anything else to do your shoot. It’s only for editing and posting that you need your phone.

This is possible thanks to the one-inch CMOS sensor built into the three-axis gimbal on top of the Pocket 3. Without going into too much technical detail, a one-inch camera sensor is very likely to be bigger (and thus better) than what a typical smartphone can provide. It’s only recently that we’ve started seeing phones land with a sensor that large, and even then, those phones are limited to specific markets and very, very expensive.

The Osmo Pocket 3 is also much smaller and lighter than an Osmo Mobile 7P. It only weighs 179g, which is less than most smartphones. Even when you snap on the battery handle (which adds a better grip to the device and significantly increases its operating time), it still weighs only 244g, which is much less than the Osmo Mobile 7P on its own, to say nothing of the 7P with a smartphone snapped into it. In fact, my entire Osmo Pocket 3 shooting kit — which includes the device, the battery handle, a wireless microphone, a Lavalier mic, and various cables and other bits — weighs just 469g. In other words, if travelability is your most pressing concern, the Pocket 3 beats the Mobile 7P by a wide margin.

The Osmo Pocket 3 is much more expensive than pretty much any smartphone gimbal and is more likely to age out due to its all-in-one nature.

The downside to this is that the Osmo Pocket 3 is set in stone. The sensor can’t be upgraded, you can’t get more power out of it by snapping on a smartphone, and whatever accessories you buy for it will only be useful for it alone. Given that the device is nearly two years old now, it could also have a better successor on the horizon. This all makes it a weaker long-term investment than something like the Osmo Mobile 7P.

There’s also the pricing to keep in mind. The Creator Combo version of the Osmo Pocket 3 — which is the only choice for any serious creator — has a list price of $799. That is not cheap. As such, only those who are very certain they will make the most of this should bother. However, as I said earlier, pretty much every major creator you know of has one of these, so its usefulness can’t be overstated.

A major update over the Pocket 2

With a new 1-inch CMPS sensor, articulating OLED display, 4K/60fps recording, and 10-bit processing, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a fantastic mobile camera.

DJI Osmo Mobile 7P vs Osmo Pocket 3: Maybe both are the real answer?

DJI Osmo Mobile 7P vs DJI Osmo Pocket 3 (1 of 2)

    C. Scott Brown / Android Authority

If a young creator asked me which of these they should get, I would ask them how serious they are about the job. If they are just testing the waters to see if it’s for them, the DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is the way to go. It’s relatively inexpensive, will work well for you for a long time, and is very easy to learn. It’s not as travel-friendly and will only work well if you have a great phone camera, but it’s the best way to get started shooting professional-looking vlogs.

It’s possible that owning both of these products is the way to go, as they each offer distinct advantages for certain shoots.

However, if they were an experienced videographer or knew for certain that this was going to be a significant part of their life, I wouldn’t hesitate to say the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is the best choice. It is more expensive, yes, but it’s a crucial piece of gear. It is fast, incredibly easy to use, and the Creator Combo gives you everything you could need to make video content that rivals any prominent YouTuber or influencer. DJI has also continuously improved the product, introducing more features, enhancing video and audio quality, and launching new accessories since the 2023 release. Even if the eventual DJI Osmo Pocket 4 launched tomorrow, the Pocket 3 would still be amazing.

The real answer to this question, though, might be to use both, like I do. The Osmo Pocket 3 is great for capturing a lot of content that can then be edited into a high-quality video for later. The Osmo Mobile 7P, though, shoots straight to a smartphone, so it’s ideal for Instagram-style videos that need minimal editing before posting. Really, a flexible creator can find specific uses for both products.

Which one will you go with? Let us know in the comments!

    Best Trading Journals of 2024: Which One Should You Choose? https://earlybirdsinvest.com/best-trading-journals-of-2024-which-one-should-you-choose/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/best-trading-journals-of-2024-which-one-should-you-choose/#respond Thu, 06 Feb 2025 10:12:31 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/best-trading-journals-of-2024-which-one-should-you-choose/

Choosing the right trading journal is essential for traders wanting to analyze performance, refine strategies, and improve consistency. In this article, we compare popular trading journals—Edgewonk, Tradersync, Tradervue, TradesViz, and TradeZella—breaking down their features, pricing, and unique offerings. Explore which journal best fits your needs and trading style.

    What is a trading journal

A trading journal is a powerful tool that helps traders track, analyze, and improve their trading performance. By recording each trade’s details, a journal provides valuable insights into trading habits and decision-making patterns. Beyond just numbers, a good trading journal includes features to analyze trading psychology, manage risk, and identify strengths and weaknesses. It enables traders to refine their strategies and stay disciplined over time. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced trader, a trading journal is essential for continuous growth and achieving consistency in the markets.

    Edgewonk

Edgewonk is a trading journal that sets itself apart by focusing solely on what traders truly need in a journaling tool. Its comprehensive suite of features includes automated trade imports, detailed journaling options, and powerful trading psychology analytics—all designed to help traders analyze performance and refine their strategies without distractions.

With an affordable price and no hidden costs, Edgewonk delivers exceptional value, prioritizing core journaling functions over unnecessary extras. While it does not include backtesting, or trade replay functionalities, this focused approach ensures a streamlined experience tailored to improving trading habits and performance. For those seeking a dedicated and effective trading journal, Edgewonk is an unbeatable choice.

    Pros

    • Automated trade imports
    • Comprehensive journaling features
    • Low price
    • Trading psychology analytics

    Cons

    • No backtesting
    • Options support limited
    • No monthly plan (but 14 day refund period)

    Edgewonk Website

    Screenshot from Edgewonk.com

    Tradersync

Tradersync is a trading journal that provides a wide range of reporting features, with notable support for options trading and a modern user interface. Though Tradersync comes at a significantly higher cost compared to other journals offering identical reporting features.

One of its key offerings is the combination of backtesting capabilities with journaling. While backtesting can be valuable for traders, it is generally more effective when done through specialized platforms designed specifically for that purpose. This integration can make Tradersync feel overly complex and less focused on the primary goal of a trading journal: analyzing past trades and improving performance.

For traders seeking a pure and effective journaling experience, Tradersync’s approach may feel unnecessarily bloated and less tailored to core journaling needs.

    Pros

    • Extensive options trading support
    • Backtesting
    • 7 day trial

    Cons

    • Expensive
    • No strategy testing
    • Important features cost extra

    Tradersync Website

    Tradezella

TradeZella is a trading journal that includes features like a mobile app, backtesting, and trade replay functionality, catering to traders who value convenience and the ability to review past trades visually. However, the platform is significantly more expensive than many alternatives, which may be a barrier for budget-conscious traders. Additionally, its backtesting capabilities are limited compared to dedicated tools, and it lacks key journaling features essential for in-depth trade analysis and performance improvement. While TradeZella offers some unique features, its high cost and incomplete journaling functionality make it a less compelling option for serious traders.

    Pros

    • App available
    • Backtesting
    • Trade Replay

    Cons

    • Very expensive
    • Misses important journaling features
    • Backtesting very limited

    Tradezella Website

    Screenshot from Tradezella.com

    Tradesviz

TradesViz is a trading journal that offers a mix of features, including automated trade charts, a backtester, and a free plan with limited functionality—making it an accessible option for beginners. However, the platform is held back by its outdated design, which can make navigation and usability less intuitive. While a free plan is available, the full version is relatively expensive, and users may find restrictions on the number of trading accounts limiting. TradesViz can be a decent choice for traders exploring journaling, but its design and cost structure may not meet the expectations of more advanced or active users.

    Pros

    • Free plan available (limited features)
    • Automated trade charts
    • Backtester

    Cons

    • Outdated design
    • Full version expensive
    • Limited trading accounts

    Tradesviz Website

    Screenshot from Tradesviz.com

    Tradervue

Tradervue is a trading journal that stands out with features like automated trade charts, commission reports, and liquidity reports, making it a solid choice for traders focused on these metrics. However, its functionality comes at a steep price, which may deter many traders.

Tradervue also lacks critical tools for trading psychology analysis, a vital aspect of improving discipline and long-term performance. Additionally, it does not support syncing with MetaTrader, a significant limitation for Forex traders using that platform. While Tradervue is suitable for traders prioritizing detailed cost and liquidity analysis, it falls short for those seeking a more holistic journaling experience.

    Pro

    • Automated trade charts
    • Commissions reports
    • Liquidity reports

    Cons

    • Expensive
    • No trading psychology analysis
    • No syncing for MetaTrader

    Tradervue Website

    The winner

When it comes to selecting the best trading journal, Edgewonk stands out as the clear winner. Its laser focus on providing a comprehensive and user-friendly journaling experience ensures traders have all the tools they need to analyze their performance and improve over time. Unlike competitors that dilute their offerings with unnecessary features or impose high costs for full access, Edgewonk keeps its pricing affordable and its features entirely dedicated to journaling. With automated trade imports, trading psychology analytics, and a focus on actionable insights, Edgewonk remains the top choice for traders serious about refining their edge and achieving long-term success.
