What you need to know

  • Samsung was spotted rolling out an update for its Camera Assistant app on Galaxy that surprisingly mentions “3D capture” and its “Galaxy XR headset.”
  • The feature says users can “create spatial photos and videos for Galaxy XR headsets,” though it’s not working properly just yet.
  • A report from August claimed Samsung is preparing to debut its Project Moohan headset on September 29.

Samsung’s premium XR headset looks a little more real after a recent update to a Galaxy app adds surprising support.

A post by SamMobile highlights an update for Samsung’s Camera Assistant app on its Galaxy phones, which directly mentions “Galaxy XR headsets.” When activated, the publication discovered a floating banner on the phone’s viewfinder that says “3D capture.” Additionally, at the top, the app informs the user that there needs to be more light before it can take a “3D photo.”

In Camera Assistant’s settings, the 3D capture feature’s description reads, “Add a 3D capture option to the top of the preview so you can create spatial photos and videos for Galaxy XR headsets.”

While this seems exciting, the publication had to go through some hoops before it could even see the feature in this capacity. Reportedly, the update for Camera Assistant, v4.0.0.3, has only rolled out for the recent Galaxy S25 FE; however, it could only be activated after transferring the updated app to a Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The safest (and current) speculation is that Samsung is still finalizing this software in preparation for its XR headset.

The hype has been building for Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset, which we’ve known as Project Moohan for a while now. A report from the end of August out of South Korea claimed Samsung could announce Project Moohan on September 29. Speculation says the company could follow this up with a market launch in mid-October in South Korea before other markets.

Those same rumors add that Project Moohan could cost somewhere between “2.5 and 4 million won,” which roughly equates to $1,800–$2,800. Comparisons to Apple’s Vision Pro continue to be made, and it seems Samsung’s headset could see under the competition’s $3,500 price tag.

Google had Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset at its I/O event earlier this year, where Android Central had a chance to demo the product. The headset earned top marks for visuals and “natural” navigation across its apps. If Samsung is preparing to launch, we’re only a few weeks away from seeing it.

DEXs capture almost 30% of CEX spot activity in June, setting new record https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dexs-capture-almost-30-of-cex-spot-activity-in-june-setting-new-record/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dexs-capture-almost-30-of-cex-spot-activity-in-june-setting-new-record/#respond Mon, 30 Jun 2025 23:41:01 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/dexs-capture-almost-30-of-cex-spot-activity-in-june-setting-new-record/

Decentralized exchanges (DEX) processed roughly $385 billion of spot trades in June, equal to almost 30% of the turnover recorded by centralized venues, according to DefiLlama and The Block data.

The 30-day DEX figure represents a 12% decline from May, but centralized exchange (CEX) spot volume contracted nearly 30% in the same period. Notably, this is the smallest monthly trading volume from CEX since September 2024.

These divergent movements resulted in a “DEX to CEX Spot Trade Volume” of 28.4% as of press time, a new all-time high. The previous record was roughly 21%, seen in May.

Biggest DEXs hold their ground

Lower relative drawdowns on Uniswap, PancakeSwap, and other permissionless venues explain most of the market share expansion.

Combined volume at the top five DEXs, which also include Orca, Raydium, and Meteora, slipped less than 10% month-on-month, aided by steady stable-pair turnover on Ethereum and growing activity on BNB, Solana, and Base.

Binance, Coinbase, OKX, and other centralized platforms saw deeper declines as traders reduced leverage and moved assets to self-custody.

Bitcoin (BTC) activity could serve as a proxy for this movement, as Binance recently registered 5,700 BTC in a 30-day inflow, which is less than half the average seen since 2020.

Furthermore, data from Nansen shows a steady decline in the ERC-20 stablecoin supply on centralized exchanges since June 17.

With less than one trading day remaining in June, the running DEX total sits $15 billion shy of the $400 billion threshold.

The average daily volume over the past week exceeded $13 billion, leaving a plausible path to finish above $400 billion if market conditions remain stable.

An ongoing trend

Despite some woes between January and April, the DEX to CEX ratio never dipped below 12% in 2025. Between 2019 and 2024, the 12% threshold was breached only four times, highlighting the strength of on-chain trading this year.

In January, analyst Ignas noted that price discovery is shifting heavily to decentralized exchanges rather than being held by venture capital funds.

According to the analyst, this occurs because traders labeled as “smart money” are predominantly involved in on-chain trading.

Consequently, the volumes on centralized exchanges act as “exit liquidity” for these traders. The increase in on-chain trading volumes could reflect traders moving to platforms where the action originates rather than waiting in centralized venues.

Microsoft Teams will soon block screen capture during meetings https://earlybirdsinvest.com/microsoft-teams-will-soon-block-screen-capture-during-meetings/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/microsoft-teams-will-soon-block-screen-capture-during-meetings/#respond Sun, 11 May 2025 12:13:34 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/microsoft-teams-will-soon-block-screen-capture-during-meetings/

Teams

Microsoft is working on adding a new Teams feature that will prevent users from capturing screenshots of sensitive information shared during meetings.

Those joining from unsupported platforms will be automatically placed in audio-only mode to protect shared content. The company plans to start rolling out this new Teams feature to Android, desktop, iOS, and web users worldwide in July 2025.

“To address the issue of unauthorized screen captures during meetings, the Prevent Screen Capture feature ensures that if a user attempts to take a screen capture, the meeting window will turn black, thereby protecting sensitive information,” Microsoft shared in a new Microsoft 365 roadmap entry.

“This feature will be available on Teams desktop applications (both Windows and Mac) and Teams mobile applications (both iOS and Android).”

However, it should be noted that, even if screenshots are blocked, sensitive media and information shared in Teams meetings can still be captured by taking a photo of the conversation.

Also, Microsoft has yet to share if the feature will be enabled by default or can be toggled on and off by meeting organizers or admins.

Last month, Meta introduced a similar WhatsApp feature named “Advanced Chat Privacy,” which protects sensitive information exchanged in private chats and group conversations by blocking attempts to save shared media and export chat content.

Redmond will also roll out a town hall screen privilege management update in Teams Rooms on Windows, interactive BizChat/Copilot Studio agents in meetings and 1-on-1 calls, and a Copilot feature to help generate audio overviews of transcribed meetings in June.

Another Copilot feature to help generate audio overviews of transcribed meetings is also under development and will let users choose the speakers, adjust the tone, and tailor the length.

In January, the company reminded Microsoft 365 admins that its new Teams Chat brand impersonation protection feature, which alerts users when it detects phishing attacks targeting organizations with external Teams access toggled on, will be made generally available for all customers by mid-February 2025.

At last year’s Enterprise Connect enterprise communications and collaboration conference, Microsoft announced that the Teams platform had reached over 320 million monthly active users across 181 markets and 44 languages.

Relevant Token Listings Enabling Hyperliquid To Capture Huge Slice of DEX Perpetuals Volume: Blockworks https://earlybirdsinvest.com/relevant-token-listings-enabling-hyperliquid-to-capture-huge-slice-of-dex-perpetuals-volume-blockworks/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/relevant-token-listings-enabling-hyperliquid-to-capture-huge-slice-of-dex-perpetuals-volume-blockworks/#respond Sun, 20 Apr 2025 23:07:03 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/relevant-token-listings-enabling-hyperliquid-to-capture-huge-slice-of-dex-perpetuals-volume-blockworks/

A prominent crypto analytics firm says the layer-1 blockchain Hyperliquid (HYPE) is dominating the decentralized perpetual futures trading market.

In a new thread on the social media platform X, Blockworks says that Hyperliquid now accounts for nearly 80% of perpetual futures trading volume in the decentralized exchange (DEX) space.

According to the crypto insights platform, Hyperliquid is massively outperforming its competitors due to an effective token-listing strategy and top-notch user experience (UX).

“Hyperliquid’s success stems primarily from rapid, relevant token listings and superior UX for users and market makers.

Currently, it is the only DEX that has been able to compete with CEX (centralized exchange) volumes.

Over the past three months, the platform has averaged $6.4 billion in daily trading volume, which sits just above 50% of the daily trading volumes of Bybit and OKX.

Blockworks notes that Hyperliquid’s trading engine, HyperCore, has given the project sufficient capital to initiate huge token buybacks.

“Fees generated on HyperCore are divided between the HLP (Hyperliquidity Provider) and the assistance fund. The assistance fund uses fees to buy back the HYPE token. From February until now, the assistance fund has bought a cumulative $96 million in HYPE, which is approximately $1.4 million daily.”

Blockworks predicts that Hyperliquid will grow large enough to take on its CEX counterparts.

“We expect HyperCore to start competing with CEXs and taking market share away from them, while continuing its dominance in the decentralized perpetuals space.”

At time of writing, HYPE is trading for $18.01.

Bitcoin hashrate hits record 972 EH/s as US miners capture 30% of market https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-hashrate-hits-record-972-eh-s-as-us-miners-capture-30-of-market/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-hashrate-hits-record-972-eh-s-as-us-miners-capture-30-of-market/#respond Fri, 04 Apr 2025 00:58:17 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-hashrate-hits-record-972-eh-s-as-us-miners-capture-30-of-market/

Bitcoin’s network activity is climbing to new heights, even as its price struggles to maintain upward momentum.

The blockchain’s hashrate, an indicator of the total computing power dedicated to mining, has now hit a historic milestone of 972 exahashes per second (EH/s), according to data from Cloverpool.

The surge in hashrate signals a growing commitment from miners, who continue to invest in infrastructure despite unfavorable market conditions. The increase also highlights the network’s enhanced security and resilience, driven by a competitive mining environment.

Meanwhile, publicly traded mining companies in the United States are gaining a stronger foothold in the global mining landscape.

VanEck’s head of research, Mathew Sigel, shared data showing that US-listed miners now account for 30% of Bitcoin’s total hashrate, an all-time high. Since the last halving event, these firms have collectively boosted their market share by 800 basis points, reflecting increased capital allocation and operational scale.

However, the growth in mining power hasn’t translated into higher profits for miners.

Pierre Rochard, former Vice President of Research at Riot Platforms, pointed out that the marginal revenue per megawatt-hour (MWh) for the most efficient mining rigs has dropped from around $200 to $150 this year.

The decline stems from two major factors, including Bitcoin’s falling price and increased network competition, which are cutting into miners’ bottom lines.

In the past 30 days, Bitcoin has lost around 10% of its value, falling to roughly $81,000, based on data from CryptoSlate. The shrinking profit margins suggest that only miners with access to low-cost energy and efficient operations will remain competitive in the current climate.
