Solana (SOL) treasury company SOL Strategies secured approval to list its common shares on the Nasdaq, according to a Sept. 5 announcement.

The company expects trading to commence on Sept. 9, under the ticker symbol “STKE” while maintaining its Canadian Securities Exchange listing under “HODL.”

Shares will no longer trade on the OTCQB Venture Market, and existing shareholders will be automatically converted to the Nasdaq listing without requiring any action.

CEO Leah Wald said:

“Joining Nasdaq aligns us with the world’s most innovative technology companies and positions us to attract institutional investors who recognize the transformative potential of Solana’s infrastructure.”

She added that the listing provides shareholders with enhanced liquidity, while giving the firm access to deeper capital markets.

SOL Strategies completed its transformation from a diversified crypto holding company to a Solana-first investment vehicle after unanimously approving the strategy shift at its shareholder meeting on July 30, 2024.

The rebranding coincided with the appointment of Wald as new CEO in early July, which accelerated the company’s accumulation of SOL tokens and ecosystem investments.

The green light marks a significant milestone for the Toronto-based company following its strategic rebrand from Cypherpunk Holdings and pivot to Solana-focused investments.

Institutional interest in Solana treasuries grows

The approval arrives amid broader institutional interest in Solana exposure, with Galaxy Digital, Multicoin Capital, and Jump Crypto reportedly seeking approximately $1 billion to assemble the largest dedicated SOL treasury through a public company vehicle.

Cantor Fitzgerald serves as lead banker for the effort, which contemplates acquiring a listed entity to create an institutional-grade Solana treasury.

Other companies also operate SOL treasuries through public markets, including Upexi, which has holdings surpassing $100 million, and DeFi Development Corp, reporting 846,000 SOL with plans to compound via staking yields.

SOL Strategies expects the Nasdaq listing to accelerate validator growth through institutional partnerships, enhance operational scalability as demand for Solana staking increases, and strengthen its position as the leading institutional gateway to the Solana ecosystem.

Czech police arrest donor in a billion-dollar bitcoin scandal: report https://earlybirdsinvest.com/czech-police-arrest-donor-in-a-billion-dollar-bitcoin-scandal-report/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/czech-police-arrest-donor-in-a-billion-dollar-bitcoin-scandal-report/#respond Sat, 16 Aug 2025 13:44:48 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/czech-police-arrest-donor-in-a-billion-dollar-bitcoin-scandal-report/

Czech police have taken convicted drug trafficker Tomas Zikovsky into detention. This is the man behind the billions of dollars in Bitcoin donations to the country’s Department of Justice, escalating a scandal that has already claimed ministers.

The Supreme Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday by the National Center for Fighting Organized Crime. (ncoz) According to a report on Czech news website Echo24, it has intervened in the case and secured individuals and evidence. The investigation now targets allegations of money laundering and illegal drug handling, separated from the broader investigation that also investigated electricity abuse.

Jizikovský was found guilty and served as a prison sentence for running the Darknet Drug Marketplace, known as Sheep Marketplace. He was arrested in 2016 and later convicted of embezzlement and drug trafficking, and sentenced to nine years in prison.

The arrest was the result of a police attack at the jizeclav home.

The Bitcoin donation incident shook Prime Minister Petr Fiara’s administration a few months before this year’s election raster.

The government survived the unconfident vote submitted by the opposition party and is leading the current poll ahead of the October vote.

Former Justice Minister Pavel Blazek accepted a donation of 468 BTC in June, and Czech Koruna worth around $45 million.

His successor, Eva Decolo, commissioned an independent audit from Grant Thornton. An audit released in late July concluded that the ministry should not accept Bitcoin, warning that it could result from criminal revenue and constitute a criminal offence.

Fraudster Sells Check Images Stolen From Billion-Dollar Bank’s System, Causing Lender To Lose $108,000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/fraudster-sells-check-images-stolen-from-billion-dollar-banks-system-causing-lender-to-lose-108000/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/fraudster-sells-check-images-stolen-from-billion-dollar-banks-system-causing-lender-to-lose-108000/#respond Wed, 23 Jul 2025 21:57:36 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/fraudster-sells-check-images-stolen-from-billion-dollar-banks-system-causing-lender-to-lose-108000/

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is taking action against a former bank employee who allegedly sold check images that resulted in a six-figure loss for the lender.

The OCC says it’s issuing an order of prohibition against Cricel Santamaria, a former client service representative at Webster Bank in Stamford, Connecticut.

Says the OCC,

“From approximately April 2019 until May 23, 2022, the respondent was employed at the bank. Between approximately October 2021 and April 2022, the respondent obtained approximately 62 check images from the bank’s internal systems and made them available for sale over the internet.

Thirteen bank customers reported fraud on their accounts shortly after their checks were made available for sale on the internet. The total fraud reported was $237,374 and the total Bank loss was approximately $108,000.”

According to the OCC, Santamaria “engaged in unsafe or unsound practices, caused more than a minimal loss to the bank, demonstrated personal dishonesty and willful or continuing disregard for the safety and soundness of the bank.”

The OCC order prohibits the ex-banker from working in the banking and financial services industry.

Santamaria consents to the OCC order without admitting or denying any wrongdoing. Under the order, the Department of Justice (DOJ) retains its right to “bring other actions deemed appropriate” against Santamaria.

The Webster Bank, a commercial bank based in Stamford, Connecticut, has more than $70 billion in assets under management.

Billion-Dollar Bank To Hand Out $510,000 To Settle Class Action Lawsuit Alleging Improper Charging of Overdraft Fees https://earlybirdsinvest.com/billion-dollar-bank-to-hand-out-510000-to-settle-class-action-lawsuit-alleging-improper-charging-of-overdraft-fees/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/billion-dollar-bank-to-hand-out-510000-to-settle-class-action-lawsuit-alleging-improper-charging-of-overdraft-fees/#respond Fri, 18 Jul 2025 06:55:09 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/billion-dollar-bank-to-hand-out-510000-to-settle-class-action-lawsuit-alleging-improper-charging-of-overdraft-fees/

A multi-billion-dollar bank is planning to shell out $510,000 to settle a class action lawsuit stemming from allegations that the financial institution hit customers with improper overdraft fees.

Customers accuse Park National Bank of assessing allegedly improper Authorized Positive Purportedly Settled Negative (APPSN) fees between November 1st, 2016 and February 20th, 2025.

An account that is initially authorized for a transaction but later has insufficient funds to process it and is overdrawn will receive APPSN fees, according to Law Insider.

The Ohio-based Park National Bank, which U.S. Federal Reserve statistics indicate has more than $9.8 billion in consolidated assets, denies any wrongdoing or liability but opted to settle the case to avoid dealing with the cost of litigation.

The bank agreed to create a settlement fund of $510,000, and it will also provide overdraft forgiveness as defined in the agreement.

Of that settlement fund, up to $170,000 could go toward attorneys’ fees. The court will determine the amount of the attorneys’ fees and costs based on numerous factors, including risk, time and the outcome of the case.

The court plans to hold a final approval hearing for the settlement on September 5th. If it is approved, payments should be made within two months of the effective date.

Victims of a bank data breach are set to receive up to $3,000 each after a settlement was reached in a class action lawsuit.

According to the settlement administration portal, impacted customers at Arizona-based Evolve Bank & Trust who file a claim and provide documentary evidence of losses resulting from the data breach stand to receive up to $3,000.

A flat cash payment of $20 will also be available but claimants can only choose one or the other, not both.

“In addition to selection one of the Cash Payment options, Settlement Class Members may elect one (1) year of monitoring that will provide the following benefits: Credit Monitoring, real-time alerts, and insurance coverage for up to $1,000,000 for identity theft.”

Claims must be filed by October 30th. A final approval hearing of the settlement will be held on November 14th.

The lawsuit against Evolve Bank & Trust was filed in January and alleges that cybercriminals infiltrated the billion-dollar lender’s information systems and gained access to sensitive and confidential information.

In a notice to customers in July of 2024, Evolve Bank said the data breach had occurred between February and May of 2024.

“…it appears the criminals downloaded information from our databases and a file share that included names, Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and contact information for most of our personal banking customers, as well as customers of our Open Banking partners. We have also learned that personal information relating to our employees was also likely affected.”

Evolve Bank & Trust, which started as First State Bank in 1925, is headquartered in West Memphis, Arizona. It boasts of around $1.6 billion in total assets and has five branches in the US.

A US bank is preparing to pay millions of dollars to settle a lawsuit that accused the lender of breach of contract.

According to a preliminary approval order, Illinois-based Midland States Bank will pay $3.125 million to settle accusations that the billion-dollar lender and two other banks it acquired improperly charged overdraft and non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees.

Specifically, the class action lawsuit alleged that Midland States Bank by its practices engaged in “Breach of Contract and Breach of the Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing, Unjust Enrichment, and violations of the Illinois Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act.”

The two banks the lender acquired are Centrue Bank and Alpine Bank & Trust.

Beneficiaries of the settlement will be customers of Midland State Bank, or the lenders it acquired, who had a checking account between April 8th of 2012 and April 30th of 2022. Plaintiffs could receive up to $10,000, per the settlement agreement.

According to the preliminary approval order, the settlement Midland States Bank has reached with the plaintiffs is not an admission of guilt.

Class members who wish to object to the settlement must communicate in writing to the court by August 11th. To opt out of the settlement, class members must write to the settlement administrator by the same date. A final approval hearing will be held on September 10th.

Per the Federal Reserve, Midland States Bank held approximately $7.45 billion in total assets as of December of 2024.

Billion-Dollar Bank Warns 7,537 Customers After Data Breach Triggers Unauthorized Account Access https://earlybirdsinvest.com/billion-dollar-bank-warns-7537-customers-after-data-breach-triggers-unauthorized-account-access/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/billion-dollar-bank-warns-7537-customers-after-data-breach-triggers-unauthorized-account-access/#respond Sat, 17 May 2025 01:19:13 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/billion-dollar-bank-warns-7537-customers-after-data-breach-triggers-unauthorized-account-access/

A top 100 US bank just disclosed a data breach affecting the personal and confidential information of thousands of customers.

In a filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, Arkansas-based Arvest Bank says it’s warning 7,537 people after a technical glitch enabled unauthorized account access.

“We recently experienced a brief technical issue during routine system updates late on Thursday, April 24. This issue temporarily allowed a limited number of customer accounts to be viewable by another customer during online banking…

Our team quickly detected and resolved the matter, temporarily disabling some online functions until everything was fixed. We were able to fully restore online banking and Arvest Go by the afternoon of Friday, April 25, 2025.”

The lender says the sensitive information includes names, account numbers, account balances and account activity.

Arvest Bank is offering credit monitoring and identity theft recovery services to affected customers.

The bank also says customers who are very concerned about becoming a victim of fraud or identity theft can place a security freeze on their credit files at no cost by contacting any of the three major nationwide credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian or TransUnion.

As of December 2024, Arvest Bank had nearly $27 billion in total assets, making it the 72nd-largest bank in the US, according to the Federal Reserve.

The Mind Behind the Billion-Dollar Subscription Platform is Back – but Here’s What Creators Actually Want: SUBBD https://earlybirdsinvest.com/the-mind-behind-the-billion-dollar-subscription-platform-is-back-but-heres-what-creators-actually-want-subbd/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/the-mind-behind-the-billion-dollar-subscription-platform-is-back-but-heres-what-creators-actually-want-subbd/#respond Tue, 13 May 2025 18:53:20 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/the-mind-behind-the-billion-dollar-subscription-platform-is-back-but-heres-what-creators-actually-want-subbd/ OnlyFans founder Tim Stokely is once again in the headlines as he prepares to launch a new subscription platform for creators – but the real rival to his ex-platform may already be live. It’s called SUBBD ($SUBBD).

Since launching its token presale last month, SUBBD has raised nearly $400,000 in early investor funding. That momentum stems from solving the very issues that have pushed creators to look beyond Web2: burnout, fragmented monetization, and limited fan engagement.

Powered by AI and crypto, SUBBD isn’t just automating the grind – it’s giving creators a streamlined, on-chain way to earn, scale, and fully own their audience.

By merging two of the most disruptive technologies into one cohesive platform, SUBBD positions itself as more than a play on crypto or AI – it’s a bet on the future of the $85 billion creator economy.

Early adopters can still lock in the current presale price of $0.0554 – but with just two days left before the next price hike, the window is closing fast.

Stokely’s ‘Subs’ Brings the Same Old Model – SUBBD Delivers a Creator-Led Revolution

Stokely is launching a new creator platform called Subs – a web-based service for both adult and non-adult content creators.

According to Stokely, the goal is to help creators grow their audiences and convert casual viewers into paying subscribers. Subs is expected to feature an Instagram-style “explore” feed and a YouTube-like “shows” section – both ad-free and designed to drive users toward subscriptions, private messages, and one-on-one video calls.

Stokely, best known as the founder of OnlyFans, sold 75% of the company in 2018 to Fenix International, owned by Leonid Radvinsky. The sale reportedly earned him a substantial return as the platform went on to generate billions.

But while Subs slaps on a fresh UI, it ultimately mirrors the same Web2 structure – including the 20% platform fee. Creators still lose a hefty cut of their earnings and often end up paying additional fees to managers handling planning, posting, and fan engagement.

SUBBD, by contrast, reimagines the entire model. Rather than tweak the formula, it embraces a fully Web3 approach – one built around ownership, automation, and creator freedom.

With AI-powered infrastructure and crypto-native monetization, SUBBD shifts the balance of power from platform to creator. It’s not just a new app – it’s a new system designed for a new era.

SUBBD Automates the Grind – So Creators Can Focus on What Actually Matters

OnlyFans may work for top-tier earners, but for most creators, it’s a constant grind. Visibility requires volume – and that means nonstop editing, livestreaming, answering DMs, writing captions, and optimizing content around the clock.

And with Subs? It’s largely a repackaged version of the same system, aside from the addition of one-on-one video calls. The pressure to produce, promote, and stay relevant remains unchanged.

SUBBD flips that script. Instead of creators working for the platform, the platform works for them. Its AI handles the repetitive backend, giving users back their time, focus, and creative flow.

From auto-messaging to smart scheduling and audience filters, SUBBD eliminates the daily hustle of managing fans manually.

And when it comes to discoverability, SUBBD isn’t powered by engagement algorithms that favor top performers. While Subs offers an “explore” feed and “shows” section, it still relies on centralized curation.

SUBBD takes a smarter approach. AI models like Florence-2 and Tag2Text automatically generate rich, context-aware tags and descriptions. Fans can filter content by mood, setting, or style – whether it’s a “sunset rooftop session” or a “low-light indoor shoot.” No manual tagging required.

Instead of disappearing in a feed, content on SUBBD is searchable, personalized, and matched to fan intent, not just virality.

SUBBD also integrates OpenAI’s Whisper to transcribe voice memos, audio drops, and roleplays. These transcripts can be auto-tagged, summarized, or repurposed, letting creators maximize their spoken content without doing extra work.

The $SUBBD Token Powers a Fully Tokenized Creator Economy

At the core of SUBBD’s Web3 model is the $SUBBD token, which redefines how creators get paid and how fans support them.

No more waiting for payout cycles. With $SUBBD, tipping is direct, instant, and trustless – fans can support creators in real time, and creators receive the full amount immediately.

And that “innovative” one-on-one call feature on Subs? SUBBD already includes video calls and livestreams, with real-time tipping baked in.

The $SUBBD token also unlocks access to pay-per-view content, exclusive drops, and creator subscriptions, creating a fully tokenized monetization loop.

But the bigger shift is ownership. As former OnlyFans CEO Amrapali Gan once said, “Creators are entrepreneurs.” SUBBD takes that seriously, offering not just a platform, but a crypto-native business model creators can control.

Yes, SUBBD charges a flat 20% fee – but unlike traditional platforms, that cut covers the entire ecosystem: infrastructure, AI tools, maintenance, and R&D. No additional fees, no platform-imposed limitations, and no need for third-party managers.

Compared to the 50–70% cut creators often give up on Web2 platforms and agency deals, it’s a different game entirely.

Earn 20% APY and Help Build the AI-Powered Future of Web3 Creators With SUBBD

Whether you’re a content creator or a fan, there’s real utility behind the $SUBBD token. And if you’re an investor, every $SUBBD you hold gives you exposure to the evolution of the creator economy – one that’s being rebuilt with AI and crypto at its core.

The $85 billion creator economy is overdue for a shift toward Web3 and intelligent automation – and $SUBBD is positioned right at that intersection. For those getting in early, the upside could be massive.

Ready to be part of it? Join the SUBBD presale and secure your $SUBBD tokens using ETH, BNB, USDT, or even a bank card.

Just connect your wallet – Best Wallet is the recommended option – and you’ll be set to claim your tokens once the presale ends.

Looking to grow your position? $SUBBD offers a fixed 20% annual percentage yield (APY) with its staking protocol.

Stay plugged in with the community on X, Instagram, and Telegram – and don’t miss your chance to get in before the rest of the market catches on.

Wells Fargo Raises Price Target on Billion-Dollar Company, Forecasts Firm’s Stock Will Soar by 52%: Report https://earlybirdsinvest.com/wells-fargo-raises-price-target-on-billion-dollar-company-forecasts-firms-stock-will-soar-by-52-report/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/wells-fargo-raises-price-target-on-billion-dollar-company-forecasts-firms-stock-will-soar-by-52-report/#respond Sat, 10 May 2025 11:53:54 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/wells-fargo-raises-price-target-on-billion-dollar-company-forecasts-firms-stock-will-soar-by-52-report/

Wells Fargo is updating its outlook on Uber (UBER), reportedly forecasting an explosive share price for the $173 billion ride-hailing company.

In a new note to clients, Wells Fargo’s Ken Gawrelski and other analysts raise Uber’s price target to $100 from $90 and reiterate an overweight rating, reports Barron’s.

The analysts also say Uber’s share price may rise to as high as $126, a more than 52% increase from the stock’s $82.81 close on Friday, as competition is likely to drive company efficiencies.

“We believe the stock is likely to outperform as healthy fundamental trends drive upward estimate revisions.”

The update comes after Uber’s reported earnings for the first quarter topped analysts’ estimates with earnings per share of $0.83, soaring above the $0.51 consensus forecast. The company also printed $11.5 billion in revenue in Q1, a 14% growth on a year-over-year basis.

However, the company fell short of the anticipated revenue of $11.6 billion in the first quarter of the year.

One highlight reported was that users booked more than three billion “trips,” up 18% from the first quarter of 2024.

The Wells Fargo team notes that top-line trends remain strong for both Uber’s mobility and delivery segments. They also say that Uber’s deployment of autonomous vehicles in the near term should attract more investor interest.

DeFi’s billion-dollar problem: Why hybrid security is the answer https://earlybirdsinvest.com/defis-billion-dollar-problem-why-hybrid-security-is-the-answer/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/defis-billion-dollar-problem-why-hybrid-security-is-the-answer/#respond Sat, 22 Mar 2025 13:48:25 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/defis-billion-dollar-problem-why-hybrid-security-is-the-answer/

The following is a guest post from Chris Thomas, Head of Blockchain and Corporate Security at GRVT.

While a chain is only as strong as its weakest link, in the world of cryptocurrency, that weak link is often security. Each year, billions of dollars vanish overnight from the crypto market due to security breaches, hacks and exploits.

The recent Bybit hack, where attackers drained over $1.5 billion in Ethereum, serves as yet another reminder of these risks. While Bybit assured users that funds were secure, the incident reinforced a fundamental issue: even the largest platforms remain vulnerable to sophisticated attacks under traditional security models.

Total value stolen in crypto hacks and the number of hacks. Source: Chainalysis

In 2024 alone, crypto-related thefts surged by 21%, totaling $2.2 billion, while hacking incidents increased from 282 in 2023 to 303. However, security failures go beyond just theft — centralized systems expose user funds to risks even without a direct breach.

Crypto’s Security Dilemma

The collapse of FTX in 2022, which erased over $8 billion in user funds, heightened concerns about custodial exchanges. Entrusting assets to centralized entities has repeatedly led to devastating losses, whether through mismanagement, fraud or outright collapse.

But decentralization hasn’t solved the problem either — flash loan attacks, smart contract exploits and governance vulnerabilities have drained liquidity pools in seconds, proving that DEXs are not immune to financial catastrophe.

The ongoing dilemma highlights a fundamental issue: neither traditional CEXs nor fully decentralized protocols offer a foolproof security model. CEXs provide user-friendly interfaces but require blind trust in a centralized entity, exposing users to custodial risks. DEXs eliminate intermediaries but introduce new challenges, such as private key mismanagement, smart contract vulnerabilities and slow governance responses to security threats.

No matter how advanced crypto technology is, fortunes can vanish in an instant. The question is no longer CEX vs. DEX — it’s how security can evolve to eliminate their weaknesses. A new approach is needed — one that blends the best of both worlds.

The Case for Hybrid Security in DeFi

A hybrid security model combines the advantages of centralized security measures with decentralized, trust-minimized solutions. Instead of forcing users to choose between control and convenience or security and usability, hybrid exchanges aim to provide institutional-grade protections while preserving self-custody.

Centralized exchanges implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), cold storage, anti-money laundering (AML) compliance and insurance coverage against cyber threats. However, these protections have limits — cold storage remains a single point of failure, MFA can be compromised through social engineering, and users must trust the exchange to act in good faith.

Decentralized exchanges rely on non-custodial asset management, smart contract audits and decentralized governance mechanisms. While these features enhance transparency and user autonomy, they do not eliminate risks. Lost private keys mean lost funds and even the most rigorously audited contracts have been subject to multi-million-dollar exploits.

A hybrid security model closes these gaps by combining CEX-level protections with DeFi resilience, allowing users to enjoy high-security standards while retaining decentralization.

How Hybrid Security Reduces Risk

Hybrid security models seek to mitigate the risks that have led to billions in losses across the crypto space. By combining decentralized self-custody with centralized security controls, these models offer a more resilient approach to asset protection.

1. Self-Custody Without Exchange Failure

Unlike traditional CEXs, which require users to relinquish control of their assets, hybrid models enforce self-custody through solutions like Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC) technology. With the new approach, users can be confident that their funds will be protected even if the exchange is compromised, reducing the risk of catastrophic failures seen in past CEX crashes.

2. Smart Contract-Backed Withdrawal Protection

Hybrid security platforms integrate Web2 and Web3 security measures at the smart contract level. Users can whitelist withdrawal addresses, and transactions require multi-factor authentication and wallet signatures. The hybrid security model significantly reduces the likelihood of unauthorized withdrawals, even in cases of compromised login credentials.

3. Order Book Systems Prevent DeFi Exploits

One of DeFi’s biggest vulnerabilities is flash loan attacks, which exploit automated market makers (AMMs) to drain liquidity pools in seconds.

Hybrid exchanges avoid this risk by utilizing off-chain order books, preventing front-running, sandwich attacks and price manipulation that plague fully decentralized protocols.

4. Institutional-Grade Compliance with Blockchain Transparency

While implementing traditional security controls like suspicious activity monitoring and withdrawal limits, hybrid security models ensure that key aspects of governance remain decentralized. Smart contract enforcement minimizes human intervention risks while maintaining transparency on the blockchain.

Hybrid Security: The Next Evolution of DeFi

The idea that finance must be fully centralized or fully decentralized is outdated. Security should not come at the cost of autonomy, and usability should not require blind trust in a single entity.

The hybrid security model represents a logical evolution in DeFi’s development — balancing institutional safeguards with blockchain transparency. Pure CEX models have demonstrated their vulnerabilities through high-profile collapses, while fully decentralized models are still in their infancy and vulnerable to emerging exploits.

Hybrid models signal a shift towards a more robust security framework, ensuring that exchange failures and protocol breaches become relics of the past. The question is no longer whether hybrid security will define the next era of crypto but how soon the industry will accept that the old ways are no longer enough.
