He pointed to recent activity involving Galaxy Digital, Jump Crypto, and Multicoin Capital as examples of companies directing funds toward newer tokens.

While Bitcoin has not shown much movement lately, Novogratz noted that it could change later in the year. He mentioned that a potential shift in US interest rate policy could drive another wave of demand for Bitcoin.

Additionally, he referenced SEC Chair Paul Atkins’ remarks about updating securities regulations to support on-chain markets.

Novogratz also mentioned that Nasdaq had submitted a request to the SEC to allow tokenized versions of traditional financial assets, such as stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

Crypto analyst Ash Crypto has revealed when the Bitcoin price is likely to reach $150,000, while Ethereum rallies to $8,000 and the altcoin season begins in full force. This comes as the crypto market looks to rebound, with BTC attempting a successful break above $112,000. 

On Bitcoin Price and Ethereum Rally And Altcoin Season Timeline

In an X post, Ash Crypto declared that the Bitcoin price will rally to $150,000, Ethereum will rally to $8,000, and the altcoin season will happen in the fourth quarter of this year. During that period, he expects altcoins to pump between 10x and 50x. In line with this, he urged market participants to relax and be patient.

In another X post, the analyst stated that the Bitcoin price will likely bottom this month. Ash Crypto remarked that he is expecting BTC to form a low between $94,000 and $100,000, making everyone believe that $124,000 was the top. When that happens, he predicts that the flagship crypto will then record a massive breakout in October and reach between $150,000 and $180,000 by December. 

Crypto analyst Stockmoney also indicated that market participants can expect significant moves from the Bitcoin price and Ethereum in Q4 of this year, while an altcoin season could be on the horizon. In an X post, the analyst stated that BTC is following the same pattern throughout the bull market. 

Based on this, he remarked that impulsive moves happen in the fourth quarter, and this is where most pumps historically occur. Stockmoney noted that these rallies are usually preceded by a longer consolidation period in the form of a falling wedge or bullish megaphone. His accompanying chart showed that the Bitcoin price could reach as high as $180,000 by year-end. 

Altcoin Season May Already Be Starting

Market commentator Milk Road suggested that altcoin season may already be starting, even as the Bitcoin price and Ethereum find their footing. In an X post, Milk Road noted that ETH has outperformed BTC over the last two quarters. ETH is up around 110% in the second and third quarters, while BTC is up 34% during this period.

This represents an over 300% return for Ethereum over the Bitcoin price. In line with this, Milk Road declared that historically, this kind of flipping often marks the start of altcoin season. Blockchain Center data shows that the market is currently closer to altcoin season than Bitcoin season. More altcoins have continued to outperform BTC over the last 90 days. However, 75% of the top 50 coins by market cap still need to outperform BTC for it to be considered officially altcoin season. 

At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price is trading at around $112,000, up in the last 24 hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.

Major Japanese companies are continuing to buy Bitcoin (BTC) and altcoins with their balance sheets, with the mobile gaming firm Gumi poised to spend 2.5 billion yen ($17 million) on XRP purchases.

Per an official Gumi release and a report from the Japanese media outlet CoinPost, the Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed firm’s board of directors has signed off on the move.

The firm said it aims to complete the purchase before the end of February next year. Gumi’s largest shareholder is SBI Holdings.

Gumi: XRP and BTC Are ‘Two Pillars’ of Our Financial Strategy

SBI is a long-term partner of the XRP issuer Ripple, and an ardent advocate of the altcoin. But Gumi has also proven to be extremely Bitcoin-keen.

The firm announced plans to buy over $6.5 million worth of Bitcoin back in February. And in March this year, Gumi held a $106,000 BTC lottery event for its newest shareholders.

Gumi officials said that the future XRP buy is not purely speculative. Instead, it called the move a “strategic initiative” that would allow it to move into the financial sector.

The company claimed its move would help it participate in the XRP ecosystem. This ecosystem, officials aid, is now playing a central role in international remittances and liquidity networks.

Developing cross-border remittances and liquidity are values “at the core of” SBI’s operations, Gumi noted.

XRP will thus take on “great significance” as a medium- to long-term growth asset, Gumi believes.

Gumi has also unveiled plans to launch a multi-billion yen crypto management fund in conjunction with SBI.

SBI: Aiming for Crypto ETF

SBI wants to launch an exchange-traded fund (ETF) that incorporates BTC, XRP, and other tokens. The firm is currently waiting on approval from Tokyo, which continues to deliberate on crypto ETF appoval.

Gumi has also said that it will look to manage its Bitcoin holdings by using staking protocols.

The company has also explained that it sees BTC and XRP as two separate pillars of its growth strategy.

XRP, it said, is a “network asset that is rooted in real financial demand.” Bitcoin, meanwhile, is a “globally universal asset,” Gumi believes.

Bitcoin (BTC) consolidates near current levels as capital inflows extend along the risk curve toward Ethereum and broader altcoins, according to Bitfinex Alpha’s Aug. 25 report.

The report noted that the shift represents a measured rotation of institutional liquidity following Bitcoin’s all-time high formation.

Bitcoin declined 4.5% from the weekly open on Aug. 18 until Aug. 22, sliding to local range lows as investors de-risked ahead of the Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole symposium.

The asset reached $111,990 amid renewed weakness in US spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) flows, with Bitcoin ETFs recording $1.18 billion in net outflows over the week. As of press time, BTC lost the $110,000 threshold and is priced at $109,795.71.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s dovish remarks at Jackson Hole triggered a sharp rebound in risk assets, sparking a broad-based short squeeze across crypto.

Ethereum led the recovery, surging to a new all-time high of $4,958.70 on Aug. 24 and demonstrating its role as a liquidity driver for institutional markets.

Spot ETH ETFs registered $197 million in outflows on Aug. 18 alone, marking the third-largest daily exit on record. However, Ethereum treasury companies absorbed substantial selling pressure, with preliminary estimates suggesting meaningful institutional support.

Corporate treasuries, including SharpLink Gaming, Bitmine Immersion Technologies, and BTCS, accelerated accumulation, with on-chain treasury balances exceeding $10 billion. The report noted that the rotation reflects softer capital inflows into Bitcoin following its Aug. 14 all-time high of $123,640.

Bitcoin’s realized cap expanded at 6% per month during the current move, compared to 13% monthly growth during late-2024 breakouts above $100,000, indicating more cautious investor appetite.

Macro signals remain supportive

Global liquidity conditions remain supportive, with the combined M2 money supply from major central banks approaching $100 trillion. The structural upward trend in global liquidity reinforces the long-term bullish case for digital assets, though capital allocation has become more selective.

Solana climbed above $200 to reach $212.60 as the broader digital asset class pushed higher alongside equities, reflecting tightening correlations between crypto and traditional risk assets. Meanwhile, network development continues to advance, showcased by DBS Bank’s recent tokenized note issuance on Ethereum.

In this backdrop, Bitfinex expects Bitcoin to remain range-bound while Ethereum attracts heightened institutional demand, mirroring Bitcoin’s dynamic from early 2024.

The report anticipated more significant capital rotation into higher-risk altcoins later in the cycle, with broader market re-rating dependent on renewed Bitcoin ETF inflows and new altcoin investment vehicles.

Ethereum ($ETH) is nearly back at its all-time high (ATH) of $4,868.80, recorded in November 2021. With its price now hovering between $4.7K and $4.8K, investor excitement is building.

Altcoin season appears to finally be around the corner. And that makes now the best time to buy the top altcoins, including newcomers like Snorter Token ($SNORT) and Best Token ($BEST).

Ethereum’s ETF-Driven Rally & Treasury Demand

Over the past three days, spot Ethereum ETFs attracted a staggering $2.3B in US inflows, equating to roughly 500K $ETH. That’s more than the 450K $ETH issued by the network since the Merge in September 2022.

An incredible $1.03B of that inflow came on Monday, August 11, as traders roared back after the weekend. Even apart from red-letter days like that one, $ETH ETF inflows have been on a nearly-uninterrupted hot streak recently.

BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust snagged $500M+ of that $1.03B inflow by itself.

Standard Chartered highlights that ETFs now account for about 3.8% of ETH’s circulating supply, while treasury firms have accumulated 2.3M $ETH (1.9% of total supply) since June, and may eventually hold up to 10%.

That’s roughly on-par with the amount of $ETH held in treasury companies, per Standard Chartered.

Unsurprisingly, given the above stats, Standard Chartered upped its year-end price prediction for Ethereum. The company now expects $ETH to hit $7.5K, up from its original prediction of $4K.

The ETF surge and accompanying price prediction increase reinforces bullish investor sentiment. It also highlights an ongoing supply-demand crunch.

There’s far more $ETH flowing out of exchanges than there is coming in, creating a compelling supply-demand dynamic.

On-Chain Supply Pressure & Price Momentum

It’s not so much limited supply but booming demand that’s creating prime conditions for $ETH to make big moves.

Ethereum is facing shrinking sell-side pressure: over the past month, exchanges have seen average withdrawals of 40K ETH per day – a negative netflow.

On the institutional level, that’s Ethereum heading into crypto treasuries or ETFs; on the retail end, it points to investors likely HODLing, staking, or sinking $ETH into DeFi activity.

On that side, Ethereum’s total volume locked (TVL) in DeFi just passed $96.9B – within range of the peaks of 2021, when TVL sat north of $100B.

Key Price Points & Future Predictions

$ETH decisively reclaimed key resistances at $4K and $4.5K, and is now challenging the $4.8K ATH.

A breakout beyond this level could trigger a move toward $5K, while a short pullback may consolidate at the $4K support zone.

The economic laws of supply and demand are hard to beat, leaving Ethereum in a prime position to continue its strong performance. Analysts are taking note:

• VanEck acknowledges the connection between Ethereum and growing crypto sectors, like tokenization and stablecoins (accounting for 62% of all stablecoin value transfer in 2025). It adds that Ethereum could ‘still emerge as a better store of value than Bitcoin.’
• Tom Lee of Fundstrat highlights the immense growth potential still available with Ethereum, noting that it is still ‘undersold’ from an institutional point of view. Some 48% of investor portfolios contain exposure to gold – only 9% to crypto.

It’s no surprise that while Standard Chartered thinks Ethereum will hit $7K, Fundstrat forecasts $10K to $15K in a far more ambitious prediction. And Standard Chartered shares the same long-term bullishness. It estimates that Ethereum could reach $25K by 2028.

Canary Capital has registered a Trump Coin ETF in Delaware, a move that signals plans to launch a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) tracking the memecoin.

The entity, “Canary Trump Coin ETF,” was incorporated on Aug. 13, according to state records.

The registration is typically a precursor to filing an S-1 application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a corresponding 19b-4 form by a listing exchange.

If filed, the fund would be the third spot ETF tied to a meme coin, following applications for Dogecoin products from other major firms. Canary Capital has also filed for a PENGU ETF, making it one of the few U.S. asset managers to pursue multiple altcoin-based ETFs.

The firm’s strategy is unusual in a market where most crypto ETF efforts have centered on blue-chip digital assets such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), with occasional diversification into large-cap layer-1 tokens like Solana (SOL).

By targeting smaller, high-volatility meme coins, the firm is positioning itself in a niche segment often viewed as speculative and outside the mainstream ETF landscape. The firm’s CEO previously stated that the altcoin ETFs are a bet on undervalued digital assets.

The proposed Trump Coin ETF would give institutional investors direct exposure to the Solana-based TRUMP token, potentially injecting additional liquidity into the market and creating a regulated investment channel for what is otherwise a retail-driven asset.

The SEC has previously stated that meme coins are considered commodities, which could simplify the approval process compared to tokens deemed securities.

Ethereum (ETH) approached within 3.9% of its all-time high as altcoins demonstrated broad strength.

Leverage across major alternative cryptocurrencies reached a record $47 billion according to Glassnode data.

Ethereum traded at $4,738.94 as of press time, up by 3.1% in the past 24 hours and just 2.7% away from its all-time high registered in November 2021. 

The rally coincided with widespread altcoin gains, with seven-day returns showing Ethereum and Dogecoin both up 25.5%, XRP gaining 16.2%, and Solana advancing 13.6%.

Bitfinex head of derivatives Jag Kooner attributed Ethereum’s momentum to “strong ETF inflows, institutional accumulation, and a favourable macro backdrop after softer CPI data boosted rate-cut expectations.” 

The combination has driven traders back into risk assets, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum seeing renewed long positioning.

Options activity signals breakout expectations

Ethereum options open interest climbed to a year-to-date high of approximately $16.1 billion alongside the spot price rally, according to Glassnode.

The elevated open interest signals strong demand for optionality around the potential breakout above previous highs.

Call premium activity confirms bullish positioning, with traders paying approximately $82 million on Aug. 8 and $31.5 million on Aug. 11, consistently outpacing put premium. 

Glassnode data indicated traders are paying premiums for upside convexity as Ethereum approaches record levels.

Options data shows low implied volatility despite the open interest buildup, suggesting markets expect a sharp move ahead while hedging downside risk. 

Kooner, from Bitfinex, noted that compressed volatility indicates any macro shock could trigger significant price swings.

Altcoin sector shows statistical outperformance

Market-cap-weighted seven-day returns across top altcoins breached the line in a standard deviation band three times since April, marking statistically significant outperformance periods. 

The magnitude and frequency highlight sustained capital rotation from Bitcoin into the altcoin sector.

The leverage buildup creates conditions where price movements can trigger cascading effects across multiple assets.

Glassnode highlighted that the broad altcoin strength reflects “an intensifying speculative bid and a market-wide appetite for higher beta exposures as momentum builds outside Bitcoin.”
