Fundstrat co-founder and BitMine chairman Tom Lee said Bitcoin may still be able to reach $250,000 in 2025, despite other crypto analysts cautiously pulling back targets.

“I think Bitcoin should really build upon this 120 before the end of the year. 200,000, maybe, 250,” Lee told Natalie Brunell on the Coin Stories podcast on Tuesday.

Last November, Lee gave a 12-month deadline for Bitcoin (BTC) to reach $250,000.

Not all analysts are as bullish as Tom Lee

While analysts like BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes and Unchained’s market research director Joe Burnett have recently echoed a similar price target for the year, others have adopted a more cautious outlook with less than five months left until the end of 2025.

In May, Bernstein and Standard Chartered set their year-end Bitcoin targets at $200,000, while 10x Research’s Markus Thielen recently projected a more modest $160,000.

Lee said there is a probability that the four-year cycle has ended for Bitcoin due to the mounting institutional interest in Bitcoin, an increasingly shared belief among executives in the industry.

However, crypto analyst Rekt Capital recently said that if the Bitcoin cycle follows the 2020 pattern, the market will likely peak in October, which is 550 days after the Bitcoin halving in April 2024.

Bitwise chief investment officer Matt Hougan recently called the four-year halving “dead”  and predicted that 2026 will be an “up year” for Bitcoin.

Crypto market sentiment shifts to “neutral”

Lee’s optimistic target comes as Bitcoin has seen a volatile week.

After reaching a new all-time high of $123,100 on July 14, BTC pulled back to $112,044 over the weekend and is trading around $113,000 at the time of publication, according to Nansen.

There’s also been a recent tumble in crypto market sentiment. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index, which measures overall market sentiment, shifted from a “Greed” score of 60 on Tuesday to a “Neutral” score of 54 on Wednesday.

However, Lee said skepticism is a positive in any financial market. “It’s a sign that there is still price discovery underway. Because if people were all bullish, in the public realm, when everyone is bullish, then it’s probably in the price,” he said.

“When there is plenty of skepticism and reasons to be skeptical, it allows markets to have positive surprise.”

Lee forecasts that Bitcoin should reach $1 million “over time.”

Bitcoin spent about nine months stuck below $110 K before finally pushing past that ceiling this month. The move up to $123,000 shows real buying power.

According to EliteOptionsTrader, a crypto expert, many investors see this as the start of something bigger.

Key Catalysts Driving The Surge

Based on examination by EliteOptionsTrader, one of the biggest factors is the potential approval of a spot Ethereum ETF. Bitcoin’s own ETFs have pulled in billions from major institutions, and a greenlight for Ethereum could send more money into crypto overall, lifting Bitcoin further.

The US election is now behind us, and talk of Federal Reserve rate cuts in late 2025 is fueling bets on a weaker dollar. Many traders view Bitcoin as a shield against political or economic swings.

At the same time, hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds, and pension plans hold only small slices of Bitcoin so far. If they decide to jump in, that could push prices even higher.

Long Base Could Support Further Gains

Bitcoin’s lengthy base under $110K sets a solid foundation. Breakouts after long periods of sideways action often lead to steep rallies.

Still, it’s normal for prices to dip back toward the breakout zone. A pullback to around $115K–$118K could happen before any major surge. Traders will be watching support at $118K and resistance near $125K.

Brewing Institutional FOMO

Even after the rally, big players have only dipped their toes in. EliteOptionsTrader notes that a major allocation wave—from a large pension fund or insurance giant—could trigger fresh price discovery.

And let’s not forget the April 2024 halving, which cut Bitcoin’s daily issuance by half. That supply shock often takes several months to show its full effect, but we’re seeing demand tick up already.

Even with a strong start, the path up isn’t without hazards. Sharp corrections of 10%–20% are part of crypto’s genes. Any surprise rules from major markets could stall this run.

On Cautious Optimism And Targets

If Bitcoin can clear $127K, the odds of a parabolic move rise sharply. Based on analysis by EliteOptionsTrader, a test of $150K in the next few weeks looks within reach. That said, aiming for $250K by year end will require all these factors to line up without a single major setback.

Bitcoin’s latest breakout feels exciting, but traders should keep a close eye on how it handles new support levels. Riding the trend can pay off, yet managing risk is just as important as spotting the next high.

Bitcoin Could Hit $250K by End of 2025, Says Analyst Scott Melker https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-could-hit-250k-by-end-of-2025-says-analyst-scott-melker/ https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-could-hit-250k-by-end-of-2025-says-analyst-scott-melker/#respond Sun, 18 May 2025 16:59:54 +0000 https://earlybirdsinvest.com/bitcoin-could-hit-250k-by-end-of-2025-says-analyst-scott-melker/

Crypto analyst Scott Melker believes Bitcoin could surge to $250,000 by the end of 2025, driven by institutional demand and a maturing market structure.

Known for hosting The Wolf of All Streets podcast, Melker shared his outlook in a recent interview, pointing to reduced volatility and deeper integration with traditional finance as catalysts for the next major rally.

“$250K this year totally possible,” Melker said, noting that Bitcoin’s volatility has dropped considerably.

“It used to be about three times as volatile as the S&P. Now it’s less than two times.”

Pension Funds and ETFs Fuel Bitcoin’s Shift Toward Market Stability

Melker attributed the shift to increased involvement from pension funds and exchange-traded fund (ETF) issuers, describing a more stable environment as long-term investors replace short-term speculators.

The arrival of institutional players, he said, has changed Bitcoin’s profile from a high-risk asset to a potential portfolio cornerstone.

Signs of renewed strength have already emerged. In May, Bitcoin climbed above $104,000, while Ethereum moved past $2,600.

The rally was accompanied by broader market gains, including surges in smaller-cap altcoins — a trend Melker said indicates new capital entering the space.

The sector also saw a symbolic victory when Coinbase was added to the S&P 500, entering the benchmark index within its top 50 by market cap.

Melker called it a clear signal that crypto firms are gaining legitimacy in traditional financial circles.

Additional momentum has come from firms like Galaxy Digital and eToro, which continue to pursue public listings amid a more favorable regulatory landscape.

Melker referenced recent developments, including paused enforcement actions by the SEC and pro-crypto signals from the White House, as factors contributing to what he described as “an extremely bullish backdrop.”

Still, not all forecasts are as aggressive. Most analysts expect Bitcoin to peak between $120,000 and $150,000 this cycle.

But Melker noted that unpredictable upside moves are part of the market’s history.

“From the 2020 lows to the last peak, Bitcoin went from $3,000 to $69,000,” he said. “A 2.5x move from here wouldn’t be a big deal.”

Adam Back Predicts Bitcoin Price Will Hit $500K-$1M This Cycle

Adam Back, a prominent figure in the Bitcoin community and CEO of Blockstream, believes that Bitcoin is significantly undervalued and could surge to between $500,000 and $1 million per coin during the current market cycle.

In a recent interview, Back expressed surprise at Bitcoin’s current price level (hovering around $103,300) given the surge in institutional interest and major developments in the crypto landscape.

Despite being just 5% below its all-time high of nearly $109,000, Back argued the price does not yet reflect the full scope of bullish momentum building behind the asset.

Meanwhile, according to Michael Saylor, founder of Strategy, Bitcoin’s recent price stagnation below the $150,000 mark can be attributed to short-term holders exiting the market.

He added that Bitcoin is now finding its way into the hands of institutions and investors with a longer time horizon, particularly through spot Bitcoin ETFs and corporate treasury strategies.
