The Shiba Inu community has received a serious alert regarding a compromised X (formerly Twitter) account that tends to put SHIB owners at risk of losing their funds.
On Friday, November 21st, Subarium/Shibarium Trustwatch, a Shiba Inu-centric X account dedicated to protecting the SHIB community, discovered fake posts from ecosystem partners whose X accounts were recently compromised.
TokenPlay AI confirms fraudulent attack
TokenPlay AI, an AI platform that allows users to build, reclaim and create value using SHIB tokens, confirmed the breach itself after hackers made a false post requesting SHIB holders to connect their wallet addresses, sources said.
Notably, in this post, the hackers had made a fake airdrop announcement containing a fraudulent link prompting users to “verify their eligibility” through a malicious website.
Immediately after the fraudulent announcement was posted, the Shiba Inu team issued a warning to the entire ShibArmy, urging them to protect their wallets and always verify the source of the link before clicking on it.
The fake post included a graphic promoting a 24-hour $TPLAY airdrop, but its wording and timing were suspicious, so it was quickly flagged by a community member and eventually confirmed by the account’s real owner.
Nevertheless, the SHIB team further warned that users should avoid interacting with TokenPlay AI social media accounts, especially posts, links, and DMs from X until full control is restored.
Therefore, we have warned that all users should check all announcements only through Shibarium and Shiba Inu’s official channels.
In response to the alert, the SHIB team focused on common tactics often used by fraudsters in past breaches like this. Therefore, they emphasized that genuine Shiba ecosystem airdrops do not require wallet connection through random third-party links.
While this is not the first time the community has encountered a cyberattack specifically targeting SHIB holders, Shibarium Trustwatch continues to uncover such scams and urges the community to remain vigilant.
